Both dramas are during the post modern Shanghai era. They both involve strong powerful men. The romance in both dramas are similar as in the men is dedicated to their leading lady despite all odds.

Though I did not watch Lady & Liar, it seems like the Thai drama Pan Ruk Pan Rai. Main lead is about to learn who she really is but an accident make her lose her memory and her identity is stolen meanwhile main lead wants to keep her close to him while second lead male tries to get her back.

Tiffany Tang Yang is the main female character in this drama as well. She's fun and kindhearted but circumstances cause her to become guarded. Hawick Lau is the male lead in the drama as well and okays his role very well!

- Rich ML and poor FL (technically rich in L&L but she was poor almost throughout the drama because she didn't remember her rich family)
- ML is obsessed with the FL and does everything he can to get her to be with him despite her being in a romantic relationship with the SML.
- In L&L the FL loses her memories and forgets the ML (and SML) and in SD the ML forgets the FL both due to accidents.
- The ML genuinely loves and cares for the FL and would sacrifice anything and everything for them and the FL is (on many instances) cold to the ML and disregards his feeling for her.
- Cast full of visuals and great acting.

- L&L is a lot more dragged (46 episodes) in comparison to SD (14 episodes) and the plot does get very repetitive and annoying.
- L&L is a historical drama, and like any historical Chinese drama, there is a lot of death.

SPOILER:
They both have a happy endings after all the characters go through a lot, in L&L the character go through a LOT more in comparison to SD.

An amnesiac female lead who’s been harmed by a greedy/jealous/psychotic female character who wants to steal her everything and as a result of her accident and amnesia (caused by the villain), she goes live with the male lead

Both dramas have a girl who encounters a tragic accident on the train, therefore, causing the fake identity. There's the 2 guys n 1 girl thingy. Love hate relationship!! Epic period dramas!!

Both are republican era dramas. Both have the male lead pursuing the female lead first. Both completely worth the watch.

They both have to deal with amnesia and misunderstandings between the main leads.

A similar period of time at the beginning of the 20th century. Both of them involve strong, influential men.

The setting is a similar time period. There is a war turmoil and yet two people meet and fall in love.
Both stories have male leads that are from a militaristic type background and the leader of a large group that controls lots of territory. The lady is engaged to another man but another man comes into her life.
