A fun drama with romance, comedy and a heart.
This is an entertaining drama with romance, comedy and heart-touching moments. The story as well as the chemistry between Zhang Han and Zhao Li Ying get better and better as the story moves along, there is good character development, and it has enough romantic/swoon-worthy scenes to make you root for the main couple. There were some characters that caused conflicts for the main couple, but they're not over-the-top, and there were no drawn-out misunderstandings. It has a solid supporting cast, such as Shan Shan’s best friend and cousin, and Feng Teng’s family and close circle. One thing this drama has plenty of, is Shan Shan’s internal monologue. While these internal conversations were often humorous, sometimes it became too much that I wanted her to just say her thoughts out loud. There were a few plot lines that didn't seem realistic or seemed exaggerated, but the overall flow and storyline were well-executed. The ending is nicely wrapped up for everyone, and my only complaint is the last scene, which seemed to have been filmed at the same time as an earlier scene in the drama (Shan Shan's clothes in the last scene were different from the previous scene, but both scenes were supposed to happen on the same night), thus taking some points away from the overall impact. The OST is good, and my favorite is the opening theme song, “Wind’s Promise”, sung by Zhang Han. As a whole, this drama is an enjoyable watch for me.

This drama never made me feel like it was a chore to watch since every episode of this 33-episode made my heart happy (and maybe even sad). It has the right amount of fluff and a bit of angst which is the formula for me of being a good drama. It's already a given that I enjoyed Zhang Han's Feng Teng and Zhao Liying's Shan Shan but all the other actors played their characters so well. Special mention goes to: Shan Shan's Dad, Liu Liu (Shan Shan's cousin), and Feng Yue (Feng Teng's sister) are my faves! For the music, I enjoyed the opening theme sang by Zhang Han and also Roll the Dice as an insert song. The only aspect that I didn't give a perfect score to was the rewatch value since watching this at least once is already good enough. On the whole, I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to be in for a good Cdrama to watch and maybe to some who haven't been introduced to the world of Cdramas yet, this is a good one to try!

Persevering!
Im struggling with this drama mainly because of the male lead. He insults the female lead for her stupidity and noise. He makes her act like his servant and threatens to deduct her pay. This is supposed to be him liking her? Its abusive. Then he forces a confession from her when she has no money or place to stay. She actually lies in this situation to say she was attracted to him when in reality she was too scared to say no to her boss. The female lead is attractive and cute but really naive to the point of stupidity.
I hate to give up something ive started be it a book or drama - but im struggling with this as I find it offensive to women. I may fast forward to see if the FL gets a backbone and the ML some humanity.
episode 30
Ok for a while it got better- she started to talk back to him and took the accounting course to be the best version of herself...for him though!!! Now we have the wedding - and oh my what an arrogant, insensitive pig he is. Never explains anything to her - lets his sister make all the arrangements and never contributes or asks her what she would like. Plus he's not even met the parents and she hasn't told them. This relationship is so dysfunctional - he treats her like a child apart from the fact he obviously has relations with her as she could have been pregnant! He wants a soft, unchallenging, basically submissive partner because his life is so stressful. Stressful?!! Oh poor little rich boy who feels so alone and has no choice in his career! Save me whilst I throw up! He has a loving sister and friend and he could chose to give the company up - he is the one who has decided to follow his grandfathers business.
This drama is so wrong and I hate how due to this poor girls young age she is being dominated by the man she loves. Where is the fun and tenderness in this relationship? It has np depth - I'm infuriated by it! Got to this point by judicious fast forwarding!

The first 12-15 episodes were fantastic. There was so much humor, that I had a hard time watching the episodes in a single go, because my brain just couldn't take all the positive stimulation, it was just perfection in the romantic comedy genre. (even the gossipy coworkers were fun)Unfortunately what followed up until episode 25? (the episode, when FL got hospitalized) had barely any humor, quite a bit of boredom & many only slightly melodramatic, but still extremely frustrating scenes. The second female lead's character was one of the worst I've seen in a drama. The story felt repetitive & it also crawled to a near complete halt until that really stupid moment when SS found the bookmark and 2 minutes later she saw the second FL's "move". I mean come on, even for a romantic Cdrama this was rather terrible. After the reconciliation in e26? I expected to return to the fun times of the early episodes, but unfortunately I was disappointed once again, because I had to witness one of the most unreal plot twists in a drama with that 10kk RMB debt thing, the resolution of that was kind of acceptable I guess & the last 2-3 episodes were also okay, but nowhere near as satisfying of an ending as it could have been. I will definitely rewatch the first half of the drama though, those early episodes were very memorable.

I love this drama. It's my personal pick-me-up on any given Blah-Day. Have already watched it over 5 times, so let me convince you on why you should try peeking in:
He's rich handsome gruff and super competent. She's a sweet naive bumpkin Cinderella (so original yeah :D)... who cares! It works like a charm.
The story telling and editing is crisp, means it won't drag.
The colour palette is comforting and cheerful, means it's all easy on the eyes.
They all are very good actors, means you won't be laughing at the wrong places (like haw haw haw).
And finally its sweetly painful and romantically charming in right doses. And the music is perfect for it all.
The rest is just your personal preference after you've invested in at least 4 - 5 episodes of your life.
1 from my many Favorite Bits: When she dreamily goes "hmmmmm"

Where should I start?... I felt in love with this drama in first few minutes.... it started really nice and caught me immediately. And when I saw Zhang Han (Feng Teng) I knew this will be great drama. And I was right.
Acting / characters
Firstly everyone was AMAZING!!! I believed every word, every movement. I think the actors also liked characters cause they lived as them and not acted as them. The main couple evolved really nice and even other couple's relationships were nicely showed. Their show time was exactly right for you to be interested in them but not to overcome main couple.
About main characters :
Feng Teng - if someone asked about my ideal boyfriend, I would just say : Someone like him. He is perfect! He is tall, handsome, intelligent, rich, passionate, sweet heart, love his family, and if he truly loves his gf he would do everything for her. Ok sometimes he is over carrying but to tell true its something you can live with ;)
Sahn Shan -her character is simply, naive, pure and sometimes also silly. I didnt like her in few situatios cause she was truly silly but overall she is nice girl and I know why Feng Teng loves her ^^
Music is great. They know when and which song use and the music nicely creating mood :) it wouldn't disturb you while watching, but more like squeezing your heart or melting your heart according the situation :)
I realised that this drama is based on story after I started watching it. I think its the main reason why it's light but still new. Also you need to watch it and watch it till you find out that you are watching last ep. Amd when I finished it I wanted to watch it immediately again, and its something I haven't felt for song time :)
So if you dont need some philosophical or action drama you have to watch it!!!

I am not a fan of Chinese dramas (often watch only K and Tdramas) but this drama really surprises me alot. This drama makes me change my views of Cdramas - I always feel that Cdramas are more naggy and dramatic, but not for this show. It is just... amazing!!! WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE DRAMA: What makes me rate this show high is because of the strong chemistry between the main leads!! Ohmygod they are just so natural and really act like a real couple! Every scene with this couple together just makes me squeal and squeal, my heart just tingles so much!!!
The casts really portray their roles well, and I really want to compliment the female lead for acting this silly yet realistic Shan Shan very well. I did read through the book after I watch the show, and I must say that she really portray this role perfectly. (:
As for music, I am just unknowingly attracted to the starting song and I just let the song play instead of skipping it whenever I watch a new episode. Probably because of Zhang Han (male lead)'s voice which really attracts me, as well as the song lyrics which are meaningfully written.
WHAT I DISLIKE ABOUT THE DRAMA: Though brilliantly written story plot, there are still some loopholes in this show, which make me ponder why and why. -Sorry I couldn't elaborate further due to spoilers-
Overall, it's really a good drama and I strongly recommend everyone to watch it. It's been a long time since I have been so addicted to a show after You Who Came From The Stars! And I swear that the rewatch value will be as high as mine after you watch because of the cute and sweet scenes between the couple!!!

Moving on to the music and acting skills of the major actors, there was never a dull moment that I needed a break from the drama. Plus the music selection was so much on point that critical developments in the story were well felt.
Overall Boss & Me is a very worth while drama that proves the lead female can get her prince as long as she remains true to her goals and herself.

The story revolves around the small town girl, Shan Shan, who moves to Shanghai to work for the big shot company run by none other than Feng Teng. Through special circumstances, the two meet and thus start their office romance. Boss & Me does have a lot of the generic drama components but it also stands out when compared to other dramas. It has an intense struggle between the two main leads and the other characters, and builds off of this unique encounter which makes Feng Teng become attracted to Shan Shan, and vice versa. There's a lot of themes revolving family, office woes, and trust between the two leads. Its happy at times, but I will warn anyone planning to watch that I myself felt my heart clench a few times. In a way, this drama also defied the expectations I had and the cliches that you would think was coming, but actually didn't. The real struggle for me with this drama is that the ending is one that leans towards the "hinting" type of endings than the clarified ones, so that's just a personal preference. It doesn't really take away from the outstanding details that bring this drama together in a big way.
The acting was nice throughout, even though I did have problems with Feng Teng's character as the narrative progressed. Shan Shan had a feel to her acting that complimented the story of the character which is something I enjoyed. The other characters, such as Li Shu, pulled an impressive performance also, showing a lot of depth to the acting in my personal opinion. Overall, the chemistry between the main leads was sweet and the acting of the cast was stable.
For music, there wasn't really much to say. It was enjoyable but nothing memorable for my tastes. However, I rarely heard the beginning song since the subtitles I watched had glitchy audio. That's just my experience in terms of music.
I rarely watch dramas again but in simple terms, I would gladly rewatch this drama. It had a subtle sweetness that was also combated with angsty emotional rollercoasters. If I were to have the time, I would probably watch it again just to re-live it all again.
Thus, it is my verdict that if you haven't watched Boss & Me, you're probably missing out on a good drama. If you don't believe me, I encourage you to at least try and watch the drama.

The cast was great. I really liked all of the characters. Most characters were understandable and the drama plays out class differences pretty well. The leads (ShanShan and FengTeng) were just so adorable! They had great chemistry and whenever FengTeng pinched ShanShan's cheek I was like "aww". I actually liked the eating food together scenes a lot because the dishes were pretty common but they made it look delicious!
OST of this drama was just ok. Usually after a drama, I keep humming the songs, but I don't remember any songs right now.
Overall, I would probably re-watch some scenes and maybe re-watch the whole thing if I have time. I recommend this drama if you like a slow romance with lots of character growth and overcoming class differences. (8.5/8.75)
