Young-dal: “A casino is the end for one’s desire. There was a point in my life where I was like a moth to that flame of desire. But I realize it now, that the end to any desire… is death.

Since instead of sleapping I'm writing a review at 3.45am, let me start from the end,,, It's an absolutely must watch drama, full of twists but at the same time an enjoyable path...
The actors did a great job, I especially fell in love with Kim Jae Joong's charachter.... I liked his acting in "Protect the boss", but in ths show he was in his peak...
Don't delay it, and sart watching...

Great drama for most of its length but stumbles towards the end

This is yet another revenge story about brothers separated as children who end up by coincidence being closely mixed up in each others’ lives as adults, even though they’re unaware that they’re brothers. I was turned off by Young-dal’s thuggishness and stupidity in the first couple of episodes, but fortunately, he gradually improved, and Kim Jae-joong’s fine acting performance made him a character you end up really rooting for. And Lee Bum-soo’s intensity and utterly Korean sentimentality was always fun to watch. Baek Jin-hee was a total charmer too. Unfortunately, Im Si-wan couldn’t keep up with those superior actors. Also, his character made no sense to me.

The story was gripping and bingeable up until the last quarter or third of the season, where it became really repetitive, with one side attacking the other and the other side responding, and continuing like that over and over. And the plot became more and more ridiculous and difficult to believe. And I got tired of characters who knew they were sitting duck targets just casually going about their lives with no protection or precautions. If this were real life, all of the main characters would have been murder victims like halfway through the drama.

Still, it’s an addictive watch most of the time. Just be ready to increase the playback speed or fast forward a lot during the latter part of the series.

Reviews are long pending since years back. Since I miss the three brothers, I recently rewatch it again. So here's my rant although it's 2014 drama. The drama's last interesting storyline question is resolved almost immediately. So, since Dong Woo has been taken care of, how does it spend its last hour?

When the writers decided to end my favourite character, I feel cheated. He had such a miserable life, he deserved a happy ending just like the others even if it's just for a short while.

I am confused with the inconsistent way those drama portrays stab wounds. An actual planned assassination attempt wasn't able to kill Dong-soo, but an impulsive attack against Dong Woo proves fatal? Why? I know not all stab wounds are created equal, but I mean in storytelling terms, why was it necessary for him to die? Literally nothing would change about any of the plot if he'd just landed in the hospital and wakes up right at the end in the epilogue.

Perhaps after the stab can just put him in coma state like, forever?
Because Dong Chul keep saying that he felt guilty for not being able to protect his younger brother and also he ever mentioned that he will "try to erase Dong Woo out from his heart/memories" .... and maybe "IF" Dong Woo were in coma state at least Dong Chul able to speak to him and take good care of him since he never had the chance to do so before. It was like his wish came true and I'm so dissappointed of course. But sadly the scriptwriters didn't think that way.

Other than that... all cast were amazing. LeeBeomSom the elder brother feels, KimJaeJoong with his crying scenes, Im Siwan portrays the character naturally & his eyes has the look of lonely person in need of a shoulder to cry on.

Overall good drama for me, but I felt something missing though.. both brothers at the airport without the younger one. SAD.
