High School - Love On

This drama is already 14 episodes in. So far it is one of my favorite dramas of 2014. I’ve had a few dramas that have started great, but halfway through its run, they kind of tended to disappoint. So far this drama hasn’t done that.  In fact, whenever I watch it, I’m almost wanting to fast forward time so I can watch the next episode.

I’ve heard one or two peeps who were leery of watching this drama, because the lead girl is only 15 years old and the 2 leading men are both 23. But the main actress is really good. In fact, she is one of my favorite child actresses.

I started to watch this because of the main actress,  Kim Sae Ron. I love the K-pop band Infinite but when I started to watch this drama, the two lead guys who are from this group, were not my main biases. But now after watching the first episode, I was hooked. They are just so good. I am having major indecision time on who to root for, because they both have their own good points.

The 2 main actors look like they have so much fun filming:

Even the bromance moments are something I look forward to:

Lee Seul Bi (Kim Sae Ron) sort of works like an Angel of Death who loves watching dramas and is fascinated by humans. One day, while watching over the human Shin Woo Hyun (Nam Woo Hyun), something happens and she ends up being one of the things she’s fascinated with. Having been an angel all her life, when she becomes human, she doesn’t have anywhere to go so she ends up living with Woo Hyun and his grandmother.

When she and Woo Hyun go to school, they become friends with the loner Hwang Sung Yeol (Lee Sung Yeol). It starts out great until a secret and Sung Yeol’s developing feelings for Seul Bi ends up turning the two guys into bitter rivals.

WHY WATCH?

It’s a teen drama, but the actors are really good. And although they are high schoolers, circumstances sort of made them mature into young adults.  It’s a story about young love and friendship; there are also the regular teenage scenes like bullying and school cliques. There are a lot of funny moments and cute moments and moments where you want to scream. For me, that’s a sign of a good drama.

If that doesn’t convince you to watch it, I suggest you try it because of Kim Sae Ron. She is really a good actress. She’s so cute and she doesn’t look too young for the two guys. I first saw her in The Queen’s Classroom. She was pretty good in that one. After seeing that drama, I started to watch some of her movies. Even at a young age (she was in the movies The Man From NowhereA Brand New Life), you just want to hold her and take care of her.

If you’re not a fan of Infinite before you watch this, you might become one after. Nam Woo Hyun and Lee Sung Yeol are both so cute, like I said before, I don’t know who to root for.

There’s Woo Hyun, who only has his grandmother to lean on and also Sung Yeol, who is having problems adjusting to a new stepmom. Both guys have endearing qualities, and they both care about the girl.

The rest of their friends are pretty good too. Woohyun’s sidekick Jang Ki Soo (Shin Hyeon Tak) is pretty funny, and so are the rest of the people that end up joining their small group of friends.

I love how from time to time you see a glimpse of a backstory for the other characters. Just goes to show not everything you see is what it seems.
