SF9's Ro Woon is in talks to lead the new romance K-drama Shining.
On January 21, media outlet Star News reported that Ro Woon will replace Chae Jong Hyeop and lead the upcoming K-drama Shining with idol actress Kim Min Ju. Chae Jong Hyeop first received the offer to lead the K-drama but the actor decided to decline the role.
Ro Woon's side hasn't responded to the casting reports yet.
If Ro Woon decides to join the new romance K-drama, this will be his second upcoming K-drama project. He will also lead the new Disney+ original series The Murky Stream with Shin Ye Eun, Park Seo Ham, Park Ji Hwan, Jeon Bae Soo, and Choi Gwi Hwa.
Last year, Ro Woon did not appear in any acting projects. In 2023, he led two K-dramas such as The Matchmakers and Destined with You. He also made a special appearance in the Netflix original K-drama A Time Called You.
Ro Woon decided to leave his group SF9 in 2023. He is now focusing on his solo activities and acting career.
Ro Woon will possibly work alongside Kim Min Ju who also received the casting report.
The upcoming K-drama Shining will tell the love story of two people who find hope and direction in their love for each other. The K-drama will be about a couple in their thirties who rekindle their romance ten years after a heartbreaking breakup caused by a tragic loss.
Shining will be the next work of director Kim Yoon Jin (Tell Me That You Love Me and Our Beloved Summer) and writer Lee Sook Yun (A Piece of Your Mind and Tune in for Love).
Ro Woon will reportedly play the role of Yeon Tae Oh, a train engineer. After the tragic loss of his parents and his brother's injury, his quiet life in a small town was forever changed. A decade after ending their relationship at the age of 20, he is set to reconnect with his ex. The reunion is expected to showcase his lingering feelings of loneliness and regret.
Meanwhile, there's no confirmation yet on the release date and broadcast channel of the upcoming K-drama Shining.
