Im Ji Yeon reveals a side of herself never seen before as a runaway slave in The Tale of Lady Ok.
The first stills capturing Im Ji Yeon's transformation into the slave Gu Deok, who later becomes the fake Ok Tae Young, have been released.
The Tale of Lady Ok tells the story of Ok Tae Young (Im Ji Yeon), a woman whose name, status, and husband are all fake, and Cheon Seung Hwi (Choo Young Woo), a storyteller who risked his life to protect her.
In the K-drama, Gu Deok (Im Ji Yeon) is a slave, born to enslaved parents. She endures the cruel and vicious abuse of her wicked master. Despite having keen intellect, athleticism, dexterity, graceful appearance, and warm-hearted nature, she lives her life hiding all these talents and qualities out of fear of drawing the envy of her incompetent mistress.
The stills show Gu Deok covered in bruises and blood as she desperately flees. In the scene, she is spotted running on a dark, snowy night, clutching a bundle tightly to her chest. Her shabby appearance and fear-filled eyes convey her desperation and struggle to survive as a human being before her status.
Im Ji Yeon shared, "I was curious to see how I would portray Ok Tae Young, a character who is one person yet simultaneously two. When choosing a project, the key factor for me is whether it's a portrayal I've shown before or not, and in that sense, this was a perfect choice."
The Tale of Lady Ok will premiere on November 30. More news about the K-drama's global OTT platform is yet to come.
