Singer-actress IU (Lee Ji Eun) will star in the first Korean film "Broker" by world renowned Japanese director, Hirokazu Koreeda.
IU is confirmed to star alongside Bae Doo Na, Song Kang Ho, and Kang Dong Won in the upcoming film "Broker." It will be produced by Zip Cinema (which has also produced such films as "#Alive" and "National Bankruptcy Day") and will be distributed by CJ ENM.
The film will narrate the story of people who become involved with the baby box, a designated place where parents who cannot raise their babies, are able to leave them there anonymously.
Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda who won the Palme d’Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival has been preparing for the upcoming film "Broker" for more than five years. He's known for "Shoplifters", "Like Father, Like Son", and more. This will be his debut in the Korean film industry.
Last August 2020, Bae Doo Na, Song Kang Ho, and Kang Dong Won confirmed their casting for the upcoming film. IU is the addition to the cast and they are set to begin filming in April 2021.
IU has had a successful career as an actress with dramas "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo", "My Mister", "Hotel Del Luna", and more. She also appeared in the Netflix's short film "Persona". IU will also star in the upcoming film "Dream" with actor Park Seo Joon, Ko Chang Seok, Lee Hyun Woo and more.
IU is currently active as an idol as well. She recently released the track and music video entitled "Celebrity" that achieved the first perfect all kill (the song came first in all Korean charts) of 2021. "Celebrity" is the pre-released track of IU's much awaited upcoming album which will be released in the first half of 2021.
