The K-movie Silence, starring actors Lee Sun Kyun and Joo Ji Hoon, has been officially invited to the Midnight Screening section of the 76th edition of the Cannes International Film Festival.

On April 24, the executive committee of the Cannes Film Festival announced that Silence had been invited to the non-competition Midnight Screening section of the festival.

The Midnight Screening section selects films of various genres - such as action, thriller, noir, fantasy, and horror - that combine artistic value and popularity.

The official invitation announcement for the Cannes Film Festival was made on April 13. Generally, additional official invitations are announced after the submission deadline if the film is considered to have value for the festival. But the announcement is delayed until confirmation after waiting for the completion of the film. And rumor has it that Silence was invited to the festival late for this reason.

Silence is a story of people trapped on an airport bridge in a thick, unidentifiable fog, facing the threat of collapse and fighting to survive an unexpected chain of disasters.

The K-movie is helmed by Kim Tae Gon and Kim Yong Hwa. Joining Lee Sun Kyun and Joo Ji Hoon in the movie are equally talented actors Kim Hee WonMoon Sung GeunYe Soo JungPark Hee BonPark Ju HyunKim Tae Woo, and Kim Soo An

On being invited to the Cannes Film Festival, director Kim Tae Gon commented, "I am really happy to be invited to the Cannes Film Festival. I think of it as an honour as a filmmaker. I hope to receive good feedback".

Director Kim Yong Hwa, who was responsible for production, said, "I consider it an honour to be invited to the Cannes Film Festival. As it is a film that the director, actors, and staff worked hard to make under difficult production circumstances, I hope many people beyond national borders will watch and support it."
