NOTE: this is just a brief summary on a List of Syndromes and Diseases Kdramas can give you. A majority of these conditions aren't medically proven to it came to mind that I write this article. I also want to note that the cures aren't medically proven and are just my suggestions. Please bare with me. I know the length of the article is to long it took me 3 consecutive days to finish so let's get along to the first condition shall we?
1. Second Lead Syndrome(SLS)
Second Lead Syndrome (SLS) - can be defined as when a drama watcher prefers the female lead to end up with the second male lead rather than with the first male lead OR that the first male lead should end up with the second female lead rather than with the first female lead. So, basically Vice-Versa. This syndrome can get pretty severe to the point where the drama watcher may become an anti-fan of the first lead actor or actress leading them to boycott that second female or male lead. Symptoms may vary as- Sadness caused by the Second Lead being Heart- Broken by his/her Beloved; Non- stop crying for the Second Male Lead; Uncontrollable rage when you spot the First Male lead; and Excessive thoughts as to why the Female lead denied the Second Male Lead.
Cure - watch more Dramas with the First Male lead; Try to figure out his good qualities; and Stay positive minded about his acting skills.

Oppa Syndrome- a virtual addiction caught when the lead man in a Korean drama hits the heart of a kdrama fan. he affected woman will exhibit dreamy state after watching the episodes, grumpiness while waiting for the next episodes and craziness watching the cute and sweet scenes over and over again. Symptoms may include - Constant flustered feelings, A red face every time you see that "Oppa", Screaming every time he gets screen time, Wanting him to get more screen time if he isn't the male lead; and finally calling him "OPPA" all the time.
Cure- There has been no possible cure for this yet but tying your hands behind your back when watching kdramas can help from watching more episodes or can stop you from possibly kissing the screen.

Cure - Finding someone special in your life; Finding a new Oppa; And Being more socially active.

One True Pairing Syndrome

One True Pairing Syndrome(OTPS)-One True Pairing is a couple so perfect for each other to the point that the Watcher can not stand to see any of them with anyone else. Similar to Second Lead Syndrome, this Syndrome can also get pretty severe to the point were the Drama Watcher May become an anti-Fan of the Actor or Actress and tend to boycott any of their Dramas in order to appease themselves. They may also give out negative remarks about that Actor/Actress and riot with others fans of that certain drama.
Symptoms may include- Hatred towards the OTP couples' new drama; Unrecognizable anger; Lack of Interest in other dramas; Reminiscing of your OTP old days when they were together; and lastly Checking for any possible reunion or season two of that drama.
Cure: try different hobbies beside kdramas for a range of a week to a month (a month being most effective); Find a new OTP couple that have been in a lot of dramas together (Ex. Multilingual syndrome

Multilingual syndrome- This syndrome is not on much of a severe level but it happens momentarily. It is when you suddenly utter out Korean word like Oppa, Unnie, Yeboseyo, Ottokae, Mianhae , and Saranghae and so on. It can get serious to a point were you suddenly utter out Korean words on a daily basis during daily activities.
Symptoms- Using Korean words in your daily life although it may not be your Native language; Saying every little Korean word you know every time you're in a similar situation with that word (Ex. your oppa is leaving the Female Lead and you say. "Ga-Ji-Ma (가지마) ")
Cure - try not to say any Korean words when watching K-dramas so you can naturally forget them; if you don't want to naturally forget them then just learn fluent Korean.
Bad Girl Syndrome

Bad Girl Syndrome- Whenever you see a gorgeous, well-dressed and confident female in a drama you should know IMMEDIATELY that she is not to be trusted. After all, looks can be deceiving and rightly so- in the Dramaland. She ought to be rich, talented, smart, and clever...in order to be ready to steal the hero away from the heroine! Otherwise, she was his long-lost lover and has come back to get him. Either way, if she is not the heroine and are comparatively nice, this girl will do whatever it takes to get him back. Symptoms may include- Stereotypical Hatred towards the so-called "Bad Girl" ; No interest in watching the Drama as it moves towards the climax; Feelings of cliche towards that drama; and lastly may lead to Kdrama Burnout.
Cure - Think of every good deed that "Bad Girl" has done; Try to be less stereotypical towards her; Try to understand her and put your foot in her situation.

Symptoms may vary as- Fangirling or Fanboying over that certain Actor or Actress; Blushing, Yelling and Crying when ever you see that Actor/Actress on screen; Unexpected excitement whenever that Actor/Actress is mentioned; Constant yapping about that Actor/Actress; and finally an uncontrollable heart beat that could be fatal.
Cure- Try to watch less popular Kdramas; Try to watch a Kdrama with Rookie Actors/Actresses (Ex. Andante and A Poem A Day)

K-Drama Addiction- "K-dramas may be one of the most dangerous addictions that a person can form in a lifetime" -Soompi. K-Drama addiction is the most common syndrome you can get in your life time which makes up 8/10 K-drama watchers. It can be recognized as non stop watching of kdramas. Your body and soul feel like they depend on K-dramas to survive and function.
Symptoms - non stop Binges that lead to lack of sleep; Watching K-dramas without subs; Lack of interest towards your social life; Losing friends; Grades dropping; hatred of going outside; and sudden interest to learn korean.
Cure- There is no CURE. Once you like K-dramas you can't stop but there is therapy that can reduce some symptoms and the severity of K-Drama Addiction.

Noona Romance- A combination of the word noona (a Korean word referring to an older girl) and Romance. Noona Romance is an older woman or girl who is interested in a young male idol/Male Actor in an inappropriate and sexual way. They make up 1/10 Kdrama watchers. THIS IS IN MY OPINION THE MOST SEVERE K-DRAMA ILLNESS YOU CAN GET SO BE AWARE. It really pains me that there is such a thing as Noona Romance.
Symptoms - sexual tingling in your body when you see that certain Actor; Constantly talking about inappropriate dreams like sexual skinship with that certain Actor; and Wanting to inappropriately touch that Actor.
Cure - Find a new hobby Besides K-dramas; Find a husband or a Boyfriend; Get a Therapist; and lastly Get a life.

Kdrama Burnout-This condition can be easily recognized as when the dramas you’re watching just aren’t as interesting as they used to be, and new dramas aren’t catching your eye. Most likely happens when you watch too much of the same genre or the dramas you watch are just rather too cliche in your opinion.
Symptoms - Skipping lots of scenes from the K-dramas you are watching; Lack of interest in the K-dramas and the genre you watch; feelings of boredom; Sleeping on certain K-dramas
Cure- Try different genres; Watch different Variety shows like Running Man; Knowing Bros; Hello Counselor; etc; Chill, relax or just read a good book; and most importantly get some sleep.
