JTBC's Doctor Slump unveiled still cuts of Park Hyung Sik, who plays the star doctor Yeo Jeong Woo in the K-drama.
Doctor Slump is an upcoming rom-com that tells the story of two doctors in a slump, trying to steer their lives out of the darkness.
Park Hyung Sik chose a romantic comedy for the first time in 7 years after starring in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon back in 2017.
Anticipation is high for the reunion of Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye, who reunite approximately 11 years after starring together in The Heirs.
In the stills, Park Hyung Sik transforms into Yeo Jeong Woo, a star plastic surgeon who falls into the worst slump in his life. From being the top-ranked student during his school days to becoming a skilled and well-rounded star doctor, he leads a solid life.
However, due to a mysterious medical accident, he finds himself on the brink.
In the first still, the gentle smile of Yeo Jeong Woo, dressed in a doctor's gown, catches erveryone's attention. As a prominent plastic surgeon, he appears flawless. His considerate demeanor, combined with a blend of skills and character, portrays an impeccable persona.
However, Yeo Jeong Woo's fall raises many questions.
While he shines brightly while receiving an award at a university alumni association in one still, another shows him under police investigation. The shadow over his face hints at the gravity of the situation.
The stills raise curiosity about the incident that flipped his life upside down and whether the star doctor will make a successful comeback.
Park Hyung Sik shared his reason for choosing Doctor Slump, stating, "The theme of falling into a slump resonated deeply with me. I know many people go through burnout and a slump in their competitive and busy reality. I was like that too, and I felt a sense of bitterness because I thought it was something everyone might experience at least once." He added, "I thought it was a work that could provide viewers with empathy and comfort."
Talking about his character, Yeo Jeong Woo, he said, "He was born as the son of a successful doctor, took an elite course, and lived a decent life as a plastic surgeon. As he faces an unexpected circumstance, he falls into the worst slump of his life for the first time." He emphasized, "I thought it was crucial to portray how Jeong Woo gradually overcomes the slump with a positive mindset and with the support of people around him who sincerely cheer him on."
Doctor Slump will premiere on January 27. The K-drama will be available to stream on Netflix.
