Kim Young Dae will possibly be the main lead of the webtoon-based K-drama "The Moon that Rises in the Day."
On January 20th, industry insiders revealed that the hit webtoon "The Moon that Rises in the Day" is confirmed to have a K-drama adaption and the production preparation has already begun. It was also revealed that the K-drama will premiere on the ENA channel. The K-drama will begin its filming this coming March and the casting will be finalized this month.
A representative of the K-drama responded and shared, "The broadcast date of 'The Moon that Rises in the Day' has not been set yet. If the casting preparations become prolonged, the start of filming will possibly be delayed until April."
"The Moon that Rises in the Day" will tell the love stories of two eras which are the Shilla dynasty and the present. It will showcase the story of a Hwarang named Doha who lost his wife at the age of 19. One day, he enters the body of Han Min Oh, a person who has died of a heart problem. Min Oh's friend is the reincarnation of his late wife, Rita. The series will base its story on the webtoon of the same name by Hye Yoom.
The Naver webtoon ended five and a half years ago and only now it will officially be adapted as a live-action series. "The Moon that Rises in the Day" was serialized from May 2013 to August 2017. Even after the series ended, the K-drama is still popular and has already accumulated over 700 million views.
Kim Young Dae got the offer to play the role of Doha. He is a nobleman of Shilla who is in charge of attacking Daegaya, the father of his wife Rita. The actor's side hasn't responded to the casting reports yet.
Kim Young Dae is currently starring in the ongoing historical K-drama "The Forbidden Marriage" with Park Ju Hyun, Kim Woo Seok, Yang Dong Geun, Park Sun Young, and Choi Deok Moon.
If Kim Young Dae confirms his casting for "The Moon that Rises in the Day," this will be his first official project for 2023.
