I don't have wechat but I learned Chinese by watching dramas and reading webnovels, anyone else doing the same?
Me too! I did this before like two years ago but my chinese was still beginner at the stage so I coud only understand occasional words. I came back to cdramas after a year or so of binging webnovels where I picked up alot of vocabs. Not I found that I can understand prases and even sentences if the vocab is not too technical. Im still having problem with listening because they speak so fast and then to eat their word pronouciations but its good for training my ears.
I do think if you only use dramas without a good foundation tho that it wont help out much besides learning occasional words.
That aside, I love webnovels! Before I used to try reading it raw but found that there were too many characters and made my head hurt. I found this methos which i use everyday:
I read on https://www.mtlnovel.com/
this website takes from raws and machines translates which will give you an idea of what the novel is saying. They have an option to read it along with the raws which is why i love it since for every paragraph i can double check the raws if i dont understand. This way I still learn by reading raws but don't overwhelm myself. I found that it's great help especially if you read it with chinese dictionary pop up (Pleco for phones, and ZhongZhong extention in chrome).
Now learning is fun everyday!
