End Of The Year BL Review ~ 2024 Edition!

I’m a little late, but this looks like fun!

December 1st 

Favorite Overall Series of 2024

•  The Sign- This series hooked me from the beginning! The combination of a murder mystery and fantasy is not something I typically watch, but it kept me on the edge of my seat. Some cases were mind-bending, and I was glued to the screen as I pieced together clues and unraveled the mysteries. The dynamic between the main couple had me blushing and giggling like crazy —BillyBabe is perfection! I was wholly invested in the captain and the other team members; they are all lovable and add much depth to the team. Season 2—bring it on!
• We Are -  Normally, I’m not a fan of series focusing on more than two couples, but this show completely transformed my expectations! The way it balanced the screen time among each couple was nothing short of brilliant. I found myself completely engrossed in their backstories—how they met, and their feelings blossomed—allowing me to connect with their actions and emotions. The chemistry among the guys was electric; their friendship felt authentic and refreshingly natural! They had me laughing out loud, tearing up, and wishing I could jump into their friend group!
• Only Boo!-  What an incredible start from the dynamic GMMTV duo, SeaKeen! They are delightful together! I genuinely believe these two are destined for greatness. The chemistry in their first series is electric, and they amplify each other’s energy! While the storyline may not be groundbreaking, the main couple had me hooked with their performance. Plus, the music in the series is nothing short of fantastic! I’m eagerly anticipating more from Keen—his voice is simply mesmerizing! Bring on the next adventure! 

Favorite Smooches of 2024

•  Mork x Day (  Last Twilight)-  Do we even have to guess why this is on this list? I mean, it's Jimmy—the man can kiss!  
• Yang x Phumjai ( Love in Translation)- It's all about location, location, location! That said, a convenience store is a new experience for me, lol.
• First x Sprite (Twins)-  Yet another example of how a location can be fun and innovative! I've never seen a kiss through a volleyball net, but Frame and Ryan managed to make it look sexy and not at all awkward. Also, I curse the writers for not giving us more kissing scenes, like the final kiss in the sports closet, because that was H.O.T.! I feel like we missed out. Haha
• Tan x Fang (We Are)- Every kiss Tan gives Fang!  *No explanation needed*

 Favorite NC Scenes of 2024-

• Qian x Yuan( Unknown 2024 ) - Everything about this was perfect. The buildup, the consent, the declaration of love, the flashbacks in the middle, the emotions flowing out from each of them, even the next morning with the sweet little neck kisses—I love them so much!
  
• Phaya x Tharn (The Sign)- Oh my gosh, these two are out of control; when they let loose, they let loose! There's no denying the chemistry between them. Just give me all the NC scenes—who needs a plot?  P.S. In my opinion, the eye contact between these two was hotter than the actual NC scenes! Lmao!
• Alan x Jeff (Pit Babe) - I have to admit, I only tuned into this series for this couple, and when their long-awaited NC scene finally arrived, I was jumping up and down with excitement! They are built on trust and love. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

December 15th 

1. An Actor/Actress Who Carried the Entire Show

Oh lord, Luo Yun Xi in Follow Your Heart for general shows LOL I still wince thinking about that show.

For BL's it would have to be War in Jack and Joker. Yin and the other cast members were fine for me personally, I think it was the script. I feel like I would have felt that mid show dip more painfully if it wasn't for War.

2. A Side Couple More Entertaining than The Main Couple 

Can't think of any 2024 show but I really loved Aidi and Chen Yi from Kiseki ~ Dear to Me 2023

3. A Series You Regret Watching

I don't regret watching any series no matter how much I hated it. I tried something new and didn't like it. There's no hard feelings. What I do regret is letting other people try to guilt me into liking shows and making me feel like sht because  I'm 'too negative and bringing the mood down' when all I did was feel differently.

Yeah. Lesson learned. 

A more light hearted answer would be 'This Love doesnt have Long Beans'. My over caffeinated ass thought it was about coffee LMAO

December 15th 

1. An Actor/Actress Who Carried the Entire Show: Maybe some people are going to disagree and to hate me but I would say Keen Suvijak as Moo in Only Boo because honestly, if his character wasn't that way, I would say, Only boo is quite mild..

2. A Side Couple More Entertaining than The Main Couple: Matmi and Half in My Love mix-up and JeffAlan in Pitbabe

3. A Series You Regret Watching:  None even the trash ones I mean I think it's more some guilty pleasure series lol

Dec, 16th

1. Worst Production of 2024

1000 Years Old (dropped), lower your expectation and you won't be as upset as me.

2. Least Favorite Thai Series of 2024

Knock Knock Boys (dropped), the visuals are great, the story... I forget how it goes, but it's terrible.

3. Least Favorite Korean Series of 2024

December 17th 

1. Least Favorite Japanese Series of 2024

For 2024, Takara no Vidro, rated 5.5 which is the 2nd highest out of the JBL's I have watched LOL JBL's are really not my thing at all. I am unlikely to watch any more honestly. 

2. Least Favorite Taiwanese Series of 2024

None for 2024 but in general it would be HIStory ~ My Hero ~ 3.5. 

3. Least Favorite (Country of Your Choosing) Series of 2024

My least favourite 2024 BL series in general would probably be We Are and Love Sea.

December 18th

1. A Series With Too Many Ad Placements

Kidnap LOL Every 5 minutes they were showcasing that choco pie thing. Ads don't normally bother me but I did get annoyed with that one. Forget about the plot for cute guys and snacks that I don't even like lol

2. Lowest Performing Actor of 2024

As I'm new, just speaking generally, Dunk's line delivery can be very irritating. I couldn't stand him in Hidden Agenda, but he seems to be doing a lot better in The Heart Killers.

3. Lowest Performing Actress of 2024

Yang Chao Yue - Love You Seven Times ~ The first and so far only time, I've been so annoyed by an actor that it actually ruined the series for me. Usually it's the script's fault. She was unbearable or maybe it was her voice over actress? I was fast forwarding a lot of her scenes, especially her emotional scenes, which is great for immersion, and she's the flippin lead! LOL
