Haven't seen it yet. I'm waiting for this one and Afro Tanaka!

It's probably not out on DVD yet.
OMO! A certain someone showed me the DL torrent version of Hard Romanticker all downloaded, subbed and looking pretty for my watching party!!! If I hadn't found out about this at 3:00 am my time I would be watching NOW!! But now I must pass out...I am going to watch as soon as my eyes open in the morning! Thank you Buddy...you know who you are.
Pretty intense already! Holy Violence Batman!

best funny line so far...

Gu and a Yakuza boss are in a club sitting around a table with some women. Gu is being given the management of the club and the Yakuza is treating him like a new son (kinda). Gu says, "I don't have a place to stay". The Yakuza turns to a pretty woman and says... "Let him stay at your place" She says "No way". Yakuza says "Gu won't try anything. He's not that kind of guy" so the girl says. "Okay, whatever" and then Gu turns to the Yakuza and says. "I am that kind of guy." ...Cracked me up.
OMO this film is so so so dark. ugh. I think there were maybe 3 characters tops who seemed to even have a conscience! Shota was good, dark and scarily convincing. I know I am not surprising anyone with my comments but whatever. He is a damn skilled actor.
Okay, I have been waiting and waiting, and after having read your review, Jeannie, I can't wait for this to be up on a streaming site...

Also...I was flattered that my review could make you want to watch more. Thanks. The best compliment. Did you watch yet?

Here's some non spoilery screen caps for you.

Your review said there was really no plot and that's certainly true but I was suprised how captivated I was even though there was nothing to build towards. Shota's acting was perfect as always and he actually looked good in the blonde. I enjoyed it although I found myself saying "wow, really?!" every time someone did something bad which was a lot! haha

To say the movie; the scenarios, actions and motivations of the characters is intense does not really describe this movie. I came away from it a little stunned and morbidly curious as to whether or not this is a real depiction of life as a ne'er do well, displaced yakuza wanna be in Japan. If so, it's scary and so sad. If this is the life they live...with no moral compass or compassion. Thinking nothing of ...huge spoiler killing, beating, raping. Even Shota's character, the protagonist Gu, is more than guilty of all of these in the film. ** His acting was stellar. I forgot who he was at times and for an actor that is so recognizable to me in every detail, that is an accomplishment. He absorbed himself into the role and that is talent. But for a movie with no actual story trajectory, it affected me with it's subject matter. and like I said in my review, I don't want to watch it again.
I watched it a few days ago (maybe more) and I think that I didn't like it because of the absence of a plot, but like others have mentioned I couldn't stop watching even though I wasn't really enjoying it.

That's the feeling I got. That it was like an every day depiction of that life. It's definitely not something I'd watch again either but it surely gives you a glimpse into that kind of life which is indeed scary. Especially the rape situations. It definitely leaves a lasting impression on you.

Ummm ... exactly! Oh man..Requiem. I should have used that as a comparison movie in my review when I stated you can appreciate a movie for the quality of acting/directing but NEVER want to watch it again. That movie is the perfect example.
