Really?! I mean .. i think that whole dramaworld is kinda in love-hate relationship with this story because we all have seen at least one version of it so we are going to watch it (try it) anyways but somehow I feel like this story doesnt really have a place in 2018 (at least in my eyes as an international fan). Lately I've been excited to see that relationships in dramas (or at least korean dramas, i dont really watch japanes ones) are getting healthier but this is kinda a step backwards in this terms (i feel like this drama has quite a number of problematic tropes). Needless to say I think that 2005 japanese version is very well done and it will be hard to trumph Matsu Jun, Oguri Shun and Inoue Mao bcs they were really iconic in their roles.

I'm going to try it anyways, just for the little nostalgie because Hana Yori Dango was my first drama but I am not particularly excited to see a remake
I highly dislike this rumor. Mostly because it has been done and redone so many times, and why bother to remake something that was well done and successful> Kinda like HanaKimi. And secondly, I don't like Suzu AT ALL as Tsukino. Suzu always tries to be lively and cute and that doesn't portray Tsukino AT ALL. And as much as I like YamaKen, he truly needs to stop playing shoujo school heroes.
I heard this last week but I am little confused by the wording here. when I first read about this it was only a rumor, which arama also notes, but then it sounds more certain to happen at the end of the article?

anyway, I don't care for another hanadan remake. I think it's unnecessary --- there have been many other adaptations at this point, but matsujun and inoue mao played their parts well enough and had noticeable chemistry that made me feel hanadan was the best one out there (from what I've seen/tried). egg-mont said it best when she described them as iconic. I know I've forgotten a lot of the show's details, but those two and their performance are burned into memory. 2005 hanadan is imperfect, but it's still a high bar to match the leads. I also don't get the why. why do they want to make a remake? other than because it's likely to make profit.. and/or because they actually want to improve on some of the problematic points. which I'd be down for, but I somehow don't see it happening. either way, I like hirose suzu & can picture her in the role of makino at least.
@Yueo: You mean Tsukushi. Tsukino is Sailor Moon's surname. :p
About the remake. If it really happens, I highly doubt it will, in any way, live up to the first J drama. Funny thing is, it didn't follow the manga very well and invented stuff, yet most fans still adored it because of MatsuJun and Mao. You just can't remake magic like that. Still, this story is famous for remakes and it's been more than a decade since the first Hana Yori Dango drama in Japan. It's not all that surprising, honestly.
@CherryBunny right! **facepalm** I guess I just mixed her name and surname XD
