My first japanese movie is "Love Letter"  by Shunji Iwai. Until now I still watch them when I have time.

I think this movie is really simple yet beautiful and also rewatchable. In the current trend of crime, medical, or complicated movie and finding love, this show shined because of its simplicity and sincerity.  They have added values that every movies dont have. They are not finding love but someone who she was really curious privately. It was just beautiful plot, casts, story and even cinematography. You can't help but fall in love with it.

My first Japanese movie was „Heavenly Forest“.

As far as I can remember, the first Japanese movie I watched was "Battle Royale". And it´s actually still one of my favourite movies, even though it is really gruesome ^^

I don't remember but I think it was "kimi ni todoke" or "Orange"

Hachiko Monogatari

either love for beginners (the movie that got me into takei emi), hyd movie or koizora lmao

Same here!

Just remembered The Tale of Genji was the first movie I watched... way back in middle school lol

I had to go through my blog to find it...

The real first movie i watched was ...Girl in the Sunny Place

the others were drama specials

Outside of anime movie, i dont remember so much in particular.  I believe it was between old ultraman-godzilla movie or other tokusatsu stuff

The girl who Leapt through Time

I actually watched a number of Japanese movies around this time, so I can't really remember exactly which was first, but I'll just say Audition.  I would consider this a  horror classic.  Made by Takashi Miike, who became one of my top favorite directors, and he is still to this day.
