Good Slice of life Japanese Dramas

Thank you so much guys for the awesome suggestions. Looks like I have a lot on my plate now. 

Meanwhile ,I went totally offtrack and watched some other type of dramas. Some were less than average and some extremely good.

Noteworthy mentions:

Watashi wo Hanasanaide 

Very strong performances but extremely sad storyline. Left me wounded for weeks after completion.  Developed a new obsession with Miura Haruma after this one and haven't been disappointed since.

Tourist 

Muira Haruma again. He never disappoints and this was fantastic. The storylines were so diverse and yet powerful.  Short drama -3 episodes , great cinematography and performances and offbeat yet engaging storyline.

Koi suru Hong Kong 

Yes, I am really liking the short dramas. This is one mad journey that had me ROFLOLing over all the messy confusion. The plot is just so refreshing and the performances ....loved them. I will be watching out for Ryo Yoshizawa.

I Don't Love You Yet  (Boku wa mada kimi wo aaisanai koto ga dekiru)

Remake of the original much loved Taiwanese drama. And for a change they made a really good remake. They almost got everything right except the length of the drama which was unnecessarily dragged. But I  thought that was the only downside. I had real fun watching this one and yes this was a through and through slice of life genre.

I know since I mentioned I like Muira Haruma and many of you have suggested above too to  watch Boku no Ita Jikan , but I can't make myself watch it. I know it;s going to amazing and Haruma is superlative in it....but I just can't take the heart wrenching  storyline and Haruma's portrayal yet. I nearly cried just watching the trailer and I know I will cry through the whole drama. Ahhh...but someday I will watch it because everyone needs to watch this amazing drama.

There are so many good suggestions already, but I want to put my two cents in!

Judging by what you've liked and what you haven't liked I think Takane no Hana will really interest you. Summary might look a bit fluffy but this drama is really unique with strong performances. The emotions are really raw and it really left an impact long after I'd finished. One of the true underrated gems of 2018.

It's been mentioned above, but the screenwriter of Soredemo, Ikite yuku (Sakamoto Yuji) has written many dramas that are very highly acclaimed here on MDL. Among those, Love That Makes You Cry is quite good. It also stars Arimura Kasumi (who you'd know from Chugakusei Nikki) in a main role.

I have heard about Love that makes you cry a lot and have watched some FMV's on youtube but I am bit skeptical about this. I am not Arimura Kazumi's fan. I thought she was only good in Chugakusei Nikki and haven't been able to connect with her in any other dramas.

I was just considering Takane no Hana. That is something I definitely want t watch. Thank you so much.

Quartet (brilliant script/writing)

Dele (it's mystery but it's just too good!)

Saikou no Rikon/Matrimonial Chaos (one of the first mature and natural plots i've seen) 

Love that makes you cry (really relatable/realistic characters)

Love and Fortune (great cinematography/music, similar theme with chugakusei nikki)

Wood Job! (it's a jmovie but a great slice of life, quite unforgettable for me)

ps: really liked soredemo, ikite yuku from way back too! might give Erased and Hirugao a chance~ 

I'm also a sucker for good slice-of-life dorama (and btw I loved "Koisuru HK" too! I't such a pity not many people know of that lil' gem of j-drama!).
