About "Drama Shower" (BL dramas airing on MBS)

"Drama Shower" (ドラマシャワー) was an MBS time slot specialized in BL drama productions. The project was launched in April 2022 and it was originally a one-year limited project, but due to its success and popularity, MBS decided to renew it for another year. In March 2024 it was announced that My Strawberry Film would be the last installment of the time slot and that, as of April 2024, Drama Shower would be replaced by a new time slot called "Drama Fill". Drama Fill is a more generic time slot that includes non-BL series, as well (the first installment of Drama Fill is in fact the non-BL psychological thriller Ubawareta Bokutachi).

Drama Shower was a collaboration between MBS — the same broadcasting company as My Beautiful Man — and Tunku (トゥンク) — a new drama label established by KADOKAWA, which has many hit BL manga and novels under its belt. In Japanese "tunku" is an onomatopoeic word that suggests the sound of a pounding heart. The hope is that these BLs will take their viewers on an exciting journey, making their hearts beat.

Do you happen to know why Takaten has their own SNS? TIA!

I am not sure, but it may have to do with the fact that the two leads are idols from Johnny & Associates, one of the biggest Japanese talent agencies. Maybe their company was involved in that decision. It's just an assumption, though.

So this means there would be more bl productions by this project next year or is the 2023-2024 time slot of the dramas that are airing rn 

We will get more dramas until March/April 2024. One Room Angel is definitely not the last production ^^

I hope not only one more drama. I’ve watched a lot, I mean really a lot of BL Dramas. I have many favorites but these Japanese BL’s are different and touch you heart in a different way. Like I said… I just love it. ♥️♥️♥️ 

I think there's still room for a couple more dramas. I don't know if they will renew it again next year, but never say never!

Even if the Tunku Shower slot is not renewed, I'm quite optimistic that MBS will keep producing BL doramas. Narakoi is airing on MBS but not under Tunku Shower, so I assume MBS is on the positive side when it comes to BL

Yes, that is definitely true! They also produced My Beautiful Man and its sequels, so we will probably get more BL dramas, regardless of the timeslot! ^^

Btw, I've noticed that One Room Angel also has separate social media accounts and another actor from Johnny's is in it, so maybe my theory about Takaten was right!
