thanks for this although knew the three dramas were connected but wasn't sure which actors were which characters since they acted by different actors in different dramas

So isnt the 1st ever immortal bai shuo meets as a kid is shanggu ? since I havent read the original novel of Ancient Love Poetry (Ancient gods) - I do know Yue mi is bai shuo and tainqi is fan yue

Thank you for this! When Last Immortal was airing, ppl said the spinoff will be about the demon king there. But I remember ppl also mentioned that TLI tweaked the characters a little. I didn't watch ALP, so I wasn't sure about the background of Yue Mi and Tian Qi. I wonder if Moonlight will mention characters from ALP and TLI. 

In term of original work, those 3 novel are somehow connected. However, when adapting on screen, the links were weaken or eased due to copywright. As you can see in The Last Immortal, many characters' names who were also included in ALP were changed. They also simplified some details such as Yuanqi's father. In TLI, it's said that Yuanqi's father had lived in Ziyue (purple moon) but in fact it should be Tianqi who was demon True God.

In the ALP (drama) Yue Mi was killed by Wu Huan, who tried to kill Tian Qi. Yue Mi saved him.

I just had a realization after rewatching ALP earlier, and I can’t help but share it here.

No, Tianqi called himself Jing Yuan when he did not recovered the true god power. Jing means Pure, Clean and Yuan means abyss in water. Zi Yue - or Purple Moon was the name of his divine weapon. He transformed his weapon into the Purple moon to help demon clan to cultivate. Because of the purple mooon, he has another nickname of Zi Yue demon lord.
For a lengthy of drama time, his feeling was still attached to Shanggu/Houchi. He felt gulty about Yuemi's death and lingering of the past.
