Shows I watched in 2023
This is a list of all the shows I have watched this year, including shows that I had already watch before this year, but decided to rewatch anyway.
I watched about 50 shows and 5 movies this year but I got lazy with putting them on this list...oh well.
BUT I WILL DO IT AGAIN IN 2024 AND SUCCEED! (or maybe not...we'll just have to wait and see...lol)
-
1. All of Us Are Dead
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
I first watched this last year.
Was in the mood to rewatch it so I did...on new years day- what a start to the new year lol!
-
2. Alchemy of Souls
Korean Drama - 2022, 20 episodes
First watched it when it first came out
I rewatched this when the second season was at episode 9 to refresh my memory of it.
-
3. Alchemy of Souls Season 2: Light and Shadow
Korean Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
I binge-watched the first 9 episodes together and then waited a week for episode 10.
HANDS DOWN ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SHOWS
-
4. Semantic Error
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
First watched it last year and wanted to root for them again so rewatched it on 15.01.2023
(I will probably rewatch it before the end of the year)

5. Fish Upon the Sky
Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
I was gonna watch this last year but decided not to, thinking it was not gonna be fun.
But boy was I wrong! I thoroughly enjoyed this drama and am really glad that I decided to give it a go. The plot was really cute and the characters were all adorable. AND POND-
He looks so good. I had already seen Phuwin elsewhere but hadn't seen Pond before- better late than never ig.

6. Even Sun
Thai Drama - 2022, 6 episodes
I actually just watched this because I wanted to watch something short and simple and this seemed to be exactly that. I must say there were many plot holes but the main couple was adorable so I didn't mind them enough to drop the show. Overall, I probably will not watch it again but watching it once is worth it for the couple- they're really cute.
-
7. The Gifted
Thai Drama - 2018, 13 episodes
I first began watching this on 31st December 2022, and finished it on 21st January 2023. I could've binge-watched it as I do with most other shows that are already complete but decided not to. I really just wanted to feel the sense of mystery and make up possible scenarios of what would happen next. I really enjoyed this show and got some wonderful quotes out of it (although I wasn't able to write them all down- I might watch it again and write them down then).
I will probably watch the next season a few weeks (or even months) later just so I could have that sense of suspense.

8. The Secret Life of My Secretary
Korean Drama - 2019, 32 episodes
I tried watching this last year but it didn't really interest me so I stopped watching quite early on.
I tried watching it again this year as a filler drama (because I didn't have high expectations) and one that I would watch when I was bored or doing something that didn't require much concentration but a bit of time (e.g cutting fruits or veg). But after watching it for a while, I realised that it wasn't all that bad so I ended up completing it. It was expected that this wouldn't be my favourite show but it was lot better than expected.

9. Kieta Hatsukoi
Japanese Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
When I first read the synopsis on MDL, I was quite intrigued- I knew I would find this interesting and I truly did. It was a really fun show and the characters were actually so cute. Forget the romance, just their friendships alone were adorable. (09.02.2023 - 11.02.2023)
-
10. Under the Queen's Umbrella
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
Okay so...I genuinely really enjoyed this show. It made me want to know more about Korean History (so much that it is now part of my 'Topics That Interest Me so I Must Research About It' list). I loved how the drama showed how a mother's love for their child can differ in many ways and still be classified as motherly love (regardless of others' opinions on it). And I really liked that the antagonist didn't just turn over a new leaf and lead a new life at the end because that would've been rather unrealistic. I (like many other viewers) would have found it really weird if someone who had no remorse for several years suddenly changed and began regretting it all. Overall, I really liked the relationships between the princes and their relationships with their mums. It was all just really wholesome and nicely done. The queen was just amazing- really really really cool. AND THE LAST SCENE WITH THE UMBRELLA WAS SO BEAUTIFUL- IT WAS SO MEANINGFUL!!!! (08.02.2023 - 12.02.2023)

11. Love to Hate You
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
I WAS LOOKING FOR A SHOW LIKE THIS- I'M SO GLAD THIS WAS MADE!
This has so many of the good cliches and tropes- all the right amounts of most of the tropes and cliches I like. The characters were so good- they were MATURE! The female lead was no damsel in distress and the male lead was not a rat in shoes with a sleek hairstyle. There was no extended misunderstanding that hindered the plot of the show. I really did enjoy watching this and would probably watch it again at some point.
(ngl though, I do watch the classic 'sunshine/damsel in distress' female lead and the 'cold, aloof, possibly CEO' male lead since it can be quite entertaining- annoying as well, but entertaining nonetheless. However, I (like many others) do prefer headstrong characters)

12. What Zabb Man!
Thai Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
I honestly don't know why I watched this- the plot was lacking and the chemistry between the couples was practically non-existent. BUT the plot did start out well and despite not liking the main characters, I quite liked the supporting characters (especially the secretary). It was quite short, which I quite liked 'cause I probably would've dropped it had it been any longer.

13. My Sweet Dear
Korean Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
Wanted to watch a simple BL, found a simple BL, watched a simple BL
-
14. Nobleman Ryu's Wedding
Korean Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
Didn't love it and didn't hate it
-
15. My School President
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS SHOW! One thing I'm really glad about is that I watched this while it was ongoing because I loved being part of the Friday MSP community where we would all sit in the comment section of Youtube and MDL, talking about how with each new episode our love for the series just kept growing. The series had some of the best characters and relationships that I have seen in any drama. From the friendships to the mother-son relationships to the more romantic relationships- I truly loved and admired them all! And the OSTs! MAN WERE THEY GOOD! It made me so happy listening to them! This series was surely a comfort series for me and will probably continue to be in the future. I will surely turn to this series any time I want a reason to smile from ear to ear! I choose to never get over this show!

16. The Romance of Tiger and Rose
Chinese Drama - 2020, 24 episodes
I don't remember when exactly the first time I watched this was, but I do remember enjoying it a ton, so I decided to rewatch it. Although I had an idea of what would happen, I had forgotten many plot points and was glad to experience a similar excitement for those scenes as I had the first time I watched them. The main characters and their close servants were everything- them alone were enough reason for me to be happy with my decision to watch this show again. When I first watched it, I thought I'd regret it since it was a period drama but since the plot wasn't completely reliant on the time period, it hadn't affected me much. When I watched it this time, I was able to acknowledge the setting of the drama a lot more as I am now more willing to watch dramas set in historical time periods. I am glad I rewatched it, so for those who have not yet watched it this is your little nudge to give this a go!

17. Unlock My Boss
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
I truly really enjoyed this drama a ton! At first, I thought the male lead was a lazy bum who got lucky by finding the phone, but slowly I came to the realisation that in no way was the man lazy- he worked hard, really hard. So I must say I really liked him. I liked the vast majority of the characters, but like in most dramas, there were some characters that annoyed me. Overall, the show was quite fun- I particularly enjoyed the scenes where they broke the fourth wall. However, there was this one scene in the show that I REALLY REALLY did not like, nor understand the purpose of (like many others in the comment section on the show's MDL page- beware not to get some spoilers as many of those comments haven't got a spoiler tag from what I've seen!). Other than that, for me, the show was worth the watch and I would suggest you watch it too.

18. Our Dating Sim
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
I began watching this show when it first came out and man I truly enjoyed it. Although the plot wasn't all that special or unique, I must admit, it kept me hooked. The way it was produced and directed, the camera lighting, and all was just too refreshing- the colour scheme was spot on for me.
However, I only managed to watch the first two episodes because I became quite busy with other stuff. So, when I returned to MDL a month later to continue watching shows I had already started...BOY was I glad to see this in that list. AND IT WAS COMPLETED, so there was no weekly wait for new episodes- I binge-watched all the episodes (in one sitting ofc since it was quite short). Although I said earlier that I didn't find the plot all that special, I enjoyed it nonetheless because it was executed truly well. I really enjoyed watching the ending 'Dating Sim' parts, however, I think there may have been some people who may have missed those parts since they come after the end of the actual episode and are quite easy to miss.
This is surely one of my favourite BLs and I will likely watch it again. Watch it if you haven't already and make sure you don't miss the ending scenes that come after 'Game Over', and 'Game Restart?' because those are truly gold.
