Every Korean and/or Asian movie I've seen so far
This is basically the place where I list off every Korean and/or Asian movie I've seen. Since I'm really into western cinema, this list is basically a way of me getting into Asian cinema with my focus on Korean films. I will occasionally watch a movie that's not Korean, which probably has to do with the fact that it has LGBTQ+/queer representations or themes.
-
1. The Beauty Inside
Korean Movie - 2015
- My very first Korean movie ever.
- First Korean movie of 2020.
- Watched in September 2020.
- Lee Dong Wook stole the show in this & he was definitely my favorite "reincarnation" of the ML.
- I will probably like the tv adaptation more.
-
2. The Call
Korean Movie - 2020
- Last Korean movie of 2020.
- Watched in November 2020.
- My very first Korean Netflix movie.
- One of my favorite thriller movies overall.
-
3. The Negotiation
Korean Movie - 2018
- First Korean movie of 2021.
- Watched in February 2021.
- I really liked it and the chemistry between Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin is just surreal.
-
4. Space Sweepers
Korean Movie - 2021
- Watched in February 2021.
- One of my favorite space operas and science fiction movies in general.
- The found family here made me emo and every one of them is such a sweet pea. The whole film was basically one big uwu mood. I truly loved it.
-
5. The Dude in Me
Korean Movie - 2019
- Watched it in March 2021.
- This movie truly lived up to its hype and it simply was fantastic & super hilarious. Nothing but praise for this ridiculous but fun plot.
- Also, my sincerest respects to the actors.
- Jung Jin Young truly stole the show. He's such a fantastic actor and I'm really happy that I saw my bae in something other than my first first love (where I loved him so freaking much).
-
6. #Alive
Korean Movie - 2020
- Watched in March 2021.
- My second Netflix made movie (that's Korean).
- Park Shin Hye somehow has become my queen and one of Korea's many actresses that I love. Besides, action roles truly suit her.
- The ML was adorable too and I really liked how he interacted with Park Shin Hye's character. I thought that their relationship was simply too cute. They truly were the heart and soul of this film.
- Besides, he (the ML) is that character that's most unlikely to survive a zombie apocalypse but somehow does manage to survive it. And let's be honest he's the closets thing will ever get to seeing ourselves in an apocalypse (he truly was too relatable and how most of us would act in a zombie outbreak).
- Surprisingly one of the rare zombie movies I have truly liked.
-
7. Night in Paradise
Korean Movie - 2021
- Watched in May 2021.
- So far the worst Korean movie I've seen and I do not understand the raving reviews at all. This movie somehow made gangsters boring as fuck. The only remotely positive thing was the set up for the main character's humanity, which they set up brilliantly.
- I didn't even finish watching this and stopped an hour and a half into it since nothing fucking happened. I almost fell asleep while watching this. This movie was truly not worth my time.
- I don't know where the writer and director was going with this plot because it truly went nowhere.
- A waste of my time & energy and I'm baffled that Netflix thought I would love it since they have it a 91% match. Well I hate to break this to you, but it ain't worked. I also hated the bleak colours (I basically hated everything).
- Even the gore did nothing for me and I usually love gore!
- The title of this film should have been night in hell since I watched this at night and it was a hell to get through. This truly wasn't good in my opinion.
-
8. Mission 1: Possible
Korean Movie - 2021
- Watched in May 2021.
- This was fucking funny. I sincerely can't count how many times I died of laughing or face palmed myself. This is severely underrated, truly top notch comedy.
- I will never ever get over the I'm Yuri & I'm trying to dual with you while wearing a shirt that said RV which our ML interpreted as a follow red velvet stan and the mobster having Yeri as his bias, lol. Our ML, whose bias is Seulgi, then accidentally shot him.
- I don't know who wrote this but that person deserves one big pay raise since they made my day. I haven't laughed so hard about a comedy movie in years.
-
9. Sweet & Sour
Korean Movie - 2021
- Watched in June 2021.
- I'm conflicted AF.
- Both parties were problematic though, neither of them was innocent or not at fault for them breaking apart.
- I'm not even sure if I actually enjoyed this but everyone acted so damn well.
- I'm not satisfied. I literally have changed my rating 3 times. I'M SO CONFLICTED!
-
10. Misbehavior
Korean Movie - 2016
- Watched in June 2021.
- I was truly fascinated when I was watching this and it's pretty dark and messed up. Also, none of the characters are likable.
- I super randomly decided to watch this after YouTube randomly recommended the trailer to me and I honestly don't regret watching it.
-
11. Ride or Die
Japanese Movie - 2021
- Watched in July 2021.
- My very first Japanese film ever.
- This wasn't good and a highly offensive portrayal of lesbians. Besides, the story is simply full of problematic characters and their toxic traits/behaviour which made it very hard to like any of the character.
- There was also so much unnecessary nudity in this and the story is just plain bad. I definitely wouldn't recommend this movie.
-
12. Waiting for Rain
Korean Movie - 2021
- Watched in August 2021.
- This was somehow really healing and comforting for me to watch. It felt as if I was receiving a hug from a soft blanket while watching it.
- The pace however isn't for everyone, but it ultimately didn't bother me.
- Kang Ha Neul was once again a super quirky and precious puppy in this. I think I'm becoming such s stanner of him.
-
13. The 8th Night
Korean Movie - 2021
- Watched in August 2021.
- Honestly everyone on MDL was right about how you should NOT watch this since it's not that great.
- Can we even call this a horror movie? Because I'm not sure if it even was one.
- The story was personally NOT for me but the acting didn't bother me personally. Also, the 8th night didn't make me rage like ride or die and night in paradise did.
