Bromance (just, like, a little gay...)
This list is for shows which have shippable male leads, not BL. Sometimes you just want to play pretend.
This list is VERY affected by the fact that I don't like to watch shows that are too far outside my thriller/crime genre comfort zone. If you rec a silly goofy comedy to me, there's a high chance I won't watch it... I'll keep adding shows as I do watch them, though.
Top -> Bottom: Favorites -> less Favorite.

1. Beyond Evil
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
The ultimate. Seriously, this is the best one. Gritty psychological crime show with 'gay' cops and an age gap and the BEST enemies to 'lovers' plot?! Seriously, I can't think of a single enemies to besties/lovers/deeply dependent on each other/whatever show that plays out the enemies growing closer better than Beyond Evil. I go back and rewatch this show all the time.

2. A League of Nobleman
Chinese Drama - 2023, 29 episodes
Quite possibly the most heart wrenching breakup arc I've ever seen. This ship brings the ANGST but also has a happy ending which is marvelous. Gotta love when the power of 'friendship' and understanding each other saves the day. Great costumes, sets, cinematography, AND PINING? Yes yes yes.
Also, the villain is one of the ML's bitter ex boyfriend, which is hilarious.
This has found family, delicious looking cooking scenes, no FLs interfering, and serial killers. Serial killings in costume dramas are like my favorite thing!

3. The Untamed
Chinese Drama - 2019, 50 episodes
My first bromance (source material is BL)! After going on to watch the animated series and read the books, I still prefer the show in many ways. But, if you're on this list, it's likely you've already seen The Untamed since it is kind of 'baby's first bromance' for a lot of people.
-
4. Strangers from Hell
Korean Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
Ah yes, the murder boyfriends. Like Hannibal? Psh, we've got Hannibal at home.
I love stalkers and creepy love interests (I have a whole other list about that, heh...), so this one speaks to me. Another show I rewatch often. 2ML calls ML 'babe' and gives him a bracelet made out of teeth. True love lol.

5. The Devil Judge
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
They're soulmates, your honor.
Most people consider this one to be the penultimate, but it took me two tries to finish it. Something about the show itself kept losing me, though it's true that the ship is magnificent. Go watch some youtube edits of this one, for real (also the fanfic of this show is unmatched).

6. The Guest
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
My first foray into Kdrama bromance. I actually had no idea it was bromantic, but watched because it's one of the only good Korean horror dramas. It's got less overt moments than the above listed shows, but the big moment in the finale makes up for that!

7. Word of Honor
Chinese Drama - 2021, 36 episodes
So. Much. Flirting.
This one is as far as a Cdrama can get to being actually BL these days, because... wow. I mean, they call each other soulmates every five minutes and have these conversations that only make sense in a romantic way. Also, there's a 'sucking poison from the neck wound' scene early on that's framed very sensually... Just wow. This drama is basically a romance wuxia which is NOT my favorite genre, which is why this is so low on the list... but it's the gayest one on the list for real.

8. Fangs of Fortune
Chinese Drama - 2024, 34 episodes
Not finished with it yet, but the villain is the ML's bitter ex which I've only seen before in my favorite Chinese bromance, League of Nobleman, and it's SO GOOD. ML has a new male love interest (and a female one, but she's cool and arguably a lesbian, sooo....) however, I am still entranced by the ML/Villain background story.

9. Bloodhounds
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
The skinship, the immediately drawn to each other, the always protecting each other, the perfect pair they are... So good. The show itself is great, too, and can be binged in a weekend.
-
10. The Merciless
Korean Movie - 2017
Yim Siwan's always getting skinshipy with those uncles... This one hurts, be warned, but it's the best almost-gay gangster movie. (The best actually-gay gangster movie is Long Time No See; check it out if you like BL).
-
11. The Bequeathed
Korean Drama - 2024, 6 episodes
Something something gay cops something something brought together by tragedy something something guilt and PINING... This show is a masterpiece to me, but I've actually yet to meet anyone else who likes it, so... take this rec with a grain of salt.

12. Evilive
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
Another good gangster drama. This show blew my mind. Unfortunately, there's a wife around... I just kinda pretended she was ML's beard and ignored her (it's easy to do, she's barely in the show).
LOTS of flirting, pining, and another excellent performance from Shin Ha Kyun where he shows us, once again, that he has 0 chemistry with women and 100 chemistry with men. Ignore his dorky little glasses look in the beginning, he gets a glow up in the show.

13. Signal
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
Haven't finished this one, and the lack of skinship kills me (what with the whole walky-talky thing....), but it feels pretty almost-gay. At the very least, there's a love triangle (a proper one, none of that two dudes fighting over the same chick nonsense) between ML, 2ML, and FL. I actually like the FL in this one so I can forgive it more than in other shows. If the FL is stopping you from watching this, don't let her--the story is seriously about the connection between the MLs. FL doesn't even know anything about the magic walky talky in the parts I've seen.

14. Psychopath Diary
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
Too much comedy for me, but yeah that psycho was down BAD for that curly haired little cutie.
-
15. Under the Skin
Chinese Drama - 2022, 20 episodes
I dropped this one because I watch a LOT of crime dramas and the crime (and solving it) element was just so dumb here. But it's true that the MLs have a perfect bromance setup.
If you're less picky with crime shows than I am, this'll probably be a good watch.

16. The Worst of Evil
Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
See, this is a great show. The genre is right up my alley. And there's LOTS of skinship. ...But too much wife. Man, these boys sure did fight over that wife. Sigh... The early episodes are the gayest.
If you watch the MUCH gayer 'The Merciless' and can't get enough of it... this is a very similar plot, just with an added wife.
-
17. Bad and Crazy
Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
Again, too much comedy for me. Lots of skinship, though.
-
18. Tientsin Mystic
Chinese Drama - 2017, 24 episodes
I didn't finish this one yet... It's just not my taste, for some reason! What I saw of the first few episodes definitely seems like it'll get bromancey.
-
19. Mad Dog
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
Woo Do-Hwan has chemistry with anyone, but he sure did get in that old man's face a lot in this one. =u= This one's only lower because every time I look up edits on youtube, I have to see fanmade music videos of Woo Do-Hwan and the FL. Ugh.
-
20. A Killer Paradox
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
The ML and the detective had some chemistry, what can I say.
-
21. Guardian
Chinese Drama - 2018, 40 episodes
I tried to like this drama, I really did, but the quality of pacing, music, writing, etc. just wasn't there for me. The book on the other hand... so good. But we're getting into proper BL there and this is a Bromance list. If you want to know if it's gay... oh yeah. Super almost-gay.
-
22. The King's Affection
Korean Drama - 2021, 20 episodes
Honorable mention because they may not be the current ship, but ML and 2ML have DEFINITELY fooled around. I refuse to believe otherwise.
They had many a conversation about love and gender and whatnot, called each other their 'first love,' and when ML fell in love and kissed FL when he thought she was a boy, both ML and 2ML just accepted that ML was bi, no question. Beautiful show. The gayest straight show I've ever watched.
