weekend dramas
I'm relatively new to watching kdramas but have quickly become obsessed. I've recently started watching weekend dramas (50 episodes or more), and love the multiple characters / multiple story lines that come with this genre. I've created this list of recommended lengthy dramas, and plan to dive in and watch as many as i can (without getting in trouble with my husband for ignoring him while I binge-watch). Hope to write a review for each one as I plow through them.

7. Bravo, My Life
Korean Drama - 2022, 120 episodes
Worth Watching? I don't think so. Did not finish this drama (watched 55 of 120). The FL was just way too good to be true and it is hard to get invested in someone without flaws. She is considered socially unacceptable because she is a single mother. Apart from the fact that the social stigma of single parenting doesn't resonate easily with a non-Korean, she is actually raising her nephew as her own child, so it's really just selfless virtue. I enjoy shows where people deal with moral gray areas, and experience emotional growth. I thought the character development was very inconsistent here. People were evil, then not evil, then evil again, with no clear reason why.

In many instances the situations reminded me of other dramas where the plot and character development was so much better. -

12. Empress Ki
Korean Drama - 2013, 51 episodes
Worth Watching? YES! It's a sanitized and dramatized version of the life of Empress Ki. Highly entertaining and the acting was superb. Tons of plot twists and evil-doers; the heroine outwits them all. Ji Chang Wook is amazing in this. He was the only bright spot in Healer, and here he has a much better storyline. Due credit to Ha Ji Won, I thought she was fantastic as well. If you like strong fearless women, this is for you.

Worth Watching? Yes! My first long form kdrama. The first few episodes had me wondering if I should persevere but I am glad I did. All the main characters have independent storylines that advance slowly. By the end you love every character; even the ones you thought would be the villains.

40. Once Again
Korean Drama - 2020, 100 episodes
Worth Watching? Yes! This story revolves around the relationship woes of the Song family siblings and the street market where the father owns a chicken shop. Throw in the father's long-lost sister and the mother's kooky sibling, and there are many stories to tell. Some of the stories dragged for me, but I gave this such a high rating due to my favorite couple of all time, Da Hee and Sae Juk. Such a mutually supportive and healthy relationship :)

Korean Drama - 2018, 52 episodes
-
52. The Real Has Come!
Korean Drama - 2023, 50 episodes
Worth Watching? Not Really. I gave it a 7.5 rating because the first part of the series is over-the-top cray cray, I couldn't stop watching, but the second half kind of unravels. Everything you think the story is building up to just kind of fizzles out. The two main leads increasingly seemed to be physically repulsed by each other;, which isn't a good thing since they are supposed o be falling in love.

63. You Are the Best!
Korean Drama - 2013, 50 episodes
Worth Watching? No. The story is predictable and the dialogue is boring. I'm sad because it has some great actors and they were given really boring roles. I dropped it, but before doing so, I caught a few snippets of the later episodes and everything ended just as expected.
