FILIPINO GAY DRAMA TIER LIST
It's my own opinion. FIGHT ME.
Final version as wow it turns out this subgenre peaked in 2020, and the ones coming out now are pretty bad.

1. Like in the Movies
Filipino Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
THE BAR FOR FILIPINO GAY DRAMAS.
The lighting sucked for like half of the series but honestly just the writing and characters alone are enough for me to overlook it, considering their budget.
And Ian!!! Both him and Yves from Stuck on You are so cute. When are we gonna get a series with them as the main characters together? Hahaha

2. Stuck on You
Filipino Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
Yves is really cute :)
But also just such a strong story. I loved it. It had a very hopeful ending - depending on if you're optimistic or pessimistic like the two characters ;)
Impressive that it was literally carried by two actors! Aside from the ex and best friend that appeared a couple of times (for a total of only FOUR actors), the focus was heavily on the two guys which made the events so much more intimate. I have a soft spot for small cast/crew that can make something really good despite their budget <3

3. Quaranthings
Filipino Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
Surprisingly good. The writers really thought things through, and took things seriously when they needed to. Really worth watching, IF you can find it hahaha. I heard bad things about the sequel so I'm avoiding it for now.

4. Love Beneath the Stars
Filipino Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
Watch the movie first! They're so cute together. And it's not weird like in Thai shows because Dominic's actor was about 26 and Luke's actor was around 21 when it was made so they aren't actually underaged high schoolers lol.
Not perfect but still really sweet.

5. Gameboys
Filipino Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
I liked it, but the drama at the end dragged on for way too long imo. Made me smile a lot before the drama happened so it's fine :3

6. Oh, Mando!
Filipino Drama - 2020, 6 episodes
Really good but I'm a bit conflicted about some things. There was effort put into forming an interesting story at least, which I appreciate. The intro was weird but it ended up being a sweet allegory about being in the closet.

7. Meet Me Outside
Filipino Drama - 2020, 6 episodes
Short, simple, and sweet. Most importantly, super inoffensive. But nothing to write home about. Sanaol ganyan ang Blued encounters lmao

8. Hello Stranger
Filipino Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
7.9 out of 10 is a bit much I think. I mean a lot of things that happen don't even make sense. They're cute together but that's it.
Edit (spoiler-ish): OKAY So I just watched the movie sequel. IT'S SO MUCH BETTER, and the choices made a lot more sense, and quite valid (except for maybe [SPOILERS] Mico forgiving at the end. I feel like he should have vented a bit about what a dick move Xavier did first before forgiving him because he still loved him). It had a much clearer direction. It was kind of a soft reset as well, and they DID NOT at all make light of the event that led to that soft reset. Because he promised, right? Xavier was sure about Mico at the end of the series. At first I was mad that they weren't together at the start but honestly the way they put together the story to get them back together in respect to why Xavier never upheld his promise at the end of the series was done SO WELL I had to excuse it.

9. Boys' Lockdown
Filipino Drama - 2020, 6 episodes
Still watching but hopeful it gets better. Right now it's boring ASF. Which is sad because I love that Ali is in this lol. I didn't even know he was into acting, but he does it pretty naturally, actually.

10. My Day
Filipino Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
Still watching but my opinion will likely never change.
It's definitely BL. And BL is usually a spit in the face of the queer community so yeah. Guys, just because you put that many queer characters in your series, it doesn't compensate for the fact that you're smashing two straight men together again for women to fantasize over.
An absolute mess with absolutely no direction. I just can't, girl. I can't.
