I was constantly putting this movie on hold even while seeing a bunch of recommendations about it.
It wasn't anything like I imagined so I'm sad I've only seen it now, especially since I really love Ha Neul, but better late than never.
The movie is really mind blowing and shocking with every revelation. There are some parts you're not sure yourself if what you see is the truth and some others where you don't want to believe that what you see is in fact the truth.
Totally recommend. All the actors did splendid job.
*to clarify: my rating isn't perfect because it's just not my type of movie and only 2/3 in the movie I started finding it interesting. The beginning wasn't enough captivating IMO

If So Min wasn't part of this movie, I would have not touched it with a stick. but she was totally a wallflower, and had no real presence unlike the other inmates.
The movie isn't easy to watch, it starts horrendously but it grows on you, and you start to appreciate it.
I liked that unlike other movies about prison where the "roommates" become closer after being hostile, here, from the very beginning, they were a friendly group that embraced the young poor girl and helped to make her life less miserable.

The concept was interesting and the chemistry great but the execution was very clumsy and most of the scenes were boring. Too bad cause I hoped to like it, since I remember positively the FL from a drama I’ve seen with her few years ago.

I really love the leads and their episode on Running Man made me get back to the show after over a year and a half of hiatus , but the movie was plain ridiculous.
I truly can’t seem to understand how did it attract so much audience in S.Korea. The acting was great though, especially how Haneul changed his smile and laughter. I bet it wasn’t easy.

What a boring movie, and I'm quite shocked at how much I didn't like it and didn't find it interesting with the A-list actors that are playing here.
Kang Dong Won showed he's great at every single character you give him, Han Hyo Joo looked IMO a bit different (lack of makeup? age? eyes-nose procedure?). Jang Woo Sung felt a bit irrelevant, and frankly they could've cast less famous actors to many of the other roles since it seems that all the budget went on their salaries, and with no profit at all, rather that getting a minus like now.

    Chinese Movie - 2019

I read yesterday that in one of the most important Chinese award ceremonies, Xiao Zhan and Mei Qi were chosen as most disappointing actor and actress, respectively, for starring in this movie. As someone who hasn't seen The Untamed (tho tried 3 times), I watched it objectively. He was quite nice in his role, she on the other hand, had almost no screen time so I don't quite understand on what basis she got that "honor".
Anyways, a good actor needs to choose good productions and this movie is boring as hell, and I want to believe this is why those who voted for them (producers, directors, ext) were disappointed, but I liked his acting.

Many many years have passed since I've seen the drama by the same name. Things change and so are we. Back in the day, when I was in middle school and seen that, I thought
to myself- what a romantic story it is. Nowadays, as the grown adult I am, it seems the farthest from reality it can be.
*probably the fact that I remembered all the turning points in the story didn't help either.

I said to myself to not get emotionally attached with the characters in this ridiculous movie, yet I’ve cried with Tang Wei at the ending..
I follow Suzy on Instagram and so I saw all the buildup she did to this movie and so I came with big expectations and I was very much disappointed. I think her story was the only silver lining of this movie. Park Bo Gum also did great at portraying his two personalities.
But what the hell did Gong Yoo was supposed to be ? the same as in Squid Game?
and don’t Yumi and Wooshik get sick of each other? They do a variety together and they do movies together. I’m happy they didn’t kiss or something or it would’ve been super weird lol

Yes, it was sad. But did I cry? Surprisingly (with its premise) no. The movie was way too boring for me to be engrossed enough to care for them. I don’t know what it is with ML’s preference of playing coming of age movies that involve really close besties love triangle, but usually the progress goes forward and not backward. While his previous movie landed in my profile pic, here he was such an annoying and unnecessary character, I just didn’t want him on my screen.
Also, if I understood correctly the plot goes in Jeju. How come they all have nice Seoul accents??
BTW Unfortunately I’m not a Dami fan, and so even if it was supposed to make my heart ache more for the story, It didn’t. Have to mention I had the same feelings before watching his previous production (20th Century Girl) with Yoojung, but the movie actually made me like her. So it’s the movie’s fault not mine lol
P.s Already while watching her for the first time in Our Blooming Youth, So Nee’s speech bothered me but now I just want to take her to SLP specialist. She has to do something with her S.

Curious what have those that ranked this movie a perfect score seen? Or better said- what did I miss?
The movie was boring. Yes his (and others) life was miserable and I pitied him but ending it on a hopeful note just didn't seem right.
I'm giving this an average rate, just like you do in a questionnaire where you don't care too much about the subject you're questioned about, but that's only because I love Joongki., or I would've given a much lower one.
Though I was left curious about North Koreans in Europe, I wished they would've provided some statistics in the ending credits.

I love Kim Jae Wook, I really do, but I'm upset with myself that I've watched this depressing movie (for him). Seo Ye Ji with all her great talent always takes on unpleasant characters and watching their intimate scene was really disturbing.
The moment the movie ended I was perplexed, since I thought something else will follow the scene, but the way it was really made my whole time go to waste.
Also, I have to mention that the job she had in the beginning of the film was so unfitting for her (the real Seo Ye Ji), and it was really weird for me to watch her dance that way.

This movie is bad. really bad. especially after reading the explanation to it (https://medium.com/@eligastor/korean-film-real-rieol-2017-plot-explanation-8ab1796b44af), I see even more how awful it was made. Waste of the actors' talent.

Was it really worth to gather all this A-list actors for this boring movie?
I'm a night owl. I rarely voluntarily go to sleep earlier than 2 AM, yet after watching an hour of this movie, I really had the erge to turn off the TV and just go to bed. So I've continued the second hour few days later, and it was as boring as the first one.
Couldn't really understand Bae Doo Na's role and why did she get the child at the end but whatever. I'm anyways not that curious.
Have to mention that IU was splendid. I remember her from Dream High (aside of her being the most amazing female singer-songwriter in South Korea) and her growth as an actress is impeccable.

I'm not a film critic nor a film student so my apologizes if I don't understand that mastery that everyone talks about- last scene, a complete one hour that was shot in a single long shot.
I came to watch a movie, one with a plot. But it wasn't there, or almost wasn't. The director wanted viewers to be in awe from the camera work and forgot that the plot is the one that carries the whole story. Disappointment overall.

What’s wrong with the people who wrote reviews on this movie and why did they rate it higher than 9? With this premise I went to the movies and saw it and in every second of it I just wished I had my bottom X2 there but there wasn’t. And I was left to wait all their few minutes awkward silences.
They were 8-12 when they separated. They couldn’t feel some immense love to long for throughout their adult lives. At least at the first time skip they should’ve spent some time together, so you could understand a bit their feelings, but no. They just Skyped and that’s all.
Everything in the movie was gloomy, from the scenery to the music and their attire.
P.S it’s so stereotypical she married a Jew. Are they the only ones who marry Asian women in the States? ??‍♀️
