In April 1939, her family relocated to Tokyo after her father left his job at Hakone Tozan Railway to focus on his writing. Due to wartime conditions, they evacuated to Gora, Hakone in April 1945 and lived there for three years. Following the war, they moved to Yamazaki, Ofuna, Kamakura in April 1948, and finally settled in Kamakura in March 1952, where they remained until her death in 2018.
From a young age, Hojo assisted her father and trained at the Gekidan Haiyuza theater troupe. She began her acting career with the Shinkokugeki and Wakashishi theater groups and made her stage debut as a young boy in Bertolt Brecht's "Fear and Poverty in the Third Reich." She was also involved in founding the Gekidan Shinjin-kai and was affiliated with Rokugeisha.
In 1957, she debuted as a voice actress with the dubbed version of "Champion the Wonder Horse." She retired from voice acting in the 1980s to focus on stage work, and her stage appearances decreased after 1990 as she began training the next generation. She retired from acting following her father's death in 1996.
Post-retirement, Hojo managed her father's relics and publications and organized exhibitions and plays related to his work with the support of Tokai University's Institute of Information and Historical Materials. She also supervised and directed exhibitions and stage productions, and gave lectures.
Hojo Michiru passed away on September 6, 2018, due to a sudden illness. She was 88 years old and remained unmarried throughout her life.
