- Also Known as: 최진리, Choi Sul Li, Choi Sulli, Choe Sul Li, Choe Sulli, Choe Jin Ri, Choe Jinri, Choi Jinri
- Nationality: South Korean
- Gender: Female
- Born: March 29, 1994
- Died: October 14, 2019
She made her debut as a child actress in 2005, with roles in KBS's "Drama City: Goblins Are Alive" and SBS's "Ballad of Seo Dong" and appeared in other dramas as well. She was later cast by SM Entertainment and became a trainee.
She made her singing debut in September 2009 as the group's sub-vocalist, sub-rapper, visual and face of the group with their digital single "La Cha Ta". The group was managed by SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트) and was known for releasing full-length studio albums during an era that saw mini-albums as the most common way of releasing music.
In July 2014, SM announced that she had decided to go on hiatus due to being mentally and physically exhausted. There were rumors that she was dating DYNAMIC DUO's Choiza and received numerous malicious comments, and other false rumors were spread online.
In August 2015, a year into her hiatus, it was announced that she had officially withdrawn from the group and decided to return to her acting career. She renewed her contract with SM in November 2017 and made her debut as a solo artist in June 2019 with the single album "Goblin" in what would be her last musical project.
She struggled with anxiety, panic attacks and depression, and on October 14, 2019, she was found dead by her brother (who was also her manager) in an apparent suicide at the age of 25. After an investigation, the police confirmed no foul play and ruled it a suicide. The family opted for a private 4-day funeral, and she was buried at an undisclosed location.
