Ubukata Kenichiro was a Japanese actor born in Aramaki, Niihari, Tone, Gunma, Japan. After attending Gunma Normal School, he graduated from Kansai University's Faculty of Law and became a teacher at Nihonbashi Women's School. In 1916, he began his acting career with Osanai Kaoru's New Theater. He was associated with several theater groups, including the New Theater Association, Tsukiji Small Theater, Kokoroza, Vanguard Theater, Stage Association, Shochiku New Comedy, Soganoya Gokuro's troupe, Horita Kinsei's troupe, and Kingdom of Laughter.

In 1932, he joined P.C.L. Film Production Company as the head of the acting department and an exclusive actor. After World War II, he moved to Shintoho, where he continued acting until his death at the age of 79 on February 25, 1961.

His son, Ubukata Akira, also became an actor.
