  • Name: Hoshino Gen
  • Native name: 星野源
  • Also Known as: ほしの げん
  • Nationality: Japanese
  • Gender: Male
  • Born: January 28, 1981
  • Age: 43
Hoshino Gen is a Japanese singer-songwriter, musician, guitarist, and actor from Saitama, Japan. He is married to actress Aragaki Yui.

He served as the leader of the instrumental band SAKEROCK until its disbandment in 2015, where he mainly played guitar and marimba. Hoshino is also recognized as an essayist and columnist, contributing to several serialized works.

For his music career, he is affiliated with Amuse Inc., while his acting career is managed by Otona Keikaku. His music is released under the label SPEEDSTAR RECORDS, a division of Victor Entertainment.

He completed his education at Jiyu no Mori Gakuen Junior and Senior High School, where he began exploring guitar and theater during middle school.

In October 2000, he founded the instrumental band SAKEROCK, inviting classmates from his high school to join.

Hoshino made his solo debut in 2010, releasing his first album "Baka no Uta" under the "Daisyworld" label within Victor Entertainment.

On December 22, 2012, he was diagnosed with subarachnoid hemorrhage, leading to a hiatus. He returned to work on February 28, 2013, but faced a recurrence in June 2013, prompting another break. He underwent successful surgery and was discharged on September 26.

In March 2015, management of his music activities shifted from Kakubarhythm to Amuse, as announced on his official website.

SAKEROCK disbanded under his leadership on June 2, 2015.

During the filming of the special drama "Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu: Ganbare Jinrui! Shinshun Special!!", Hoshino began dating his co-star Aragaki Yui. They announced their engagement on May 19, 2021.
