Cupid, Please Wish It To Be Over
Watching the trailer, I thought I will get a balance of drama and romance with a good body-switching plot. However, the majority that I get is full of annoying childish tantrums from an immature character.
Mix plays Win, the unreasonable, childish, and full of animosity. The character literally annoys me throughout the drama. Earth plays Korn, though he is kind, but doesn’t have any balls to explain why he got the inheritance from Win’s father. If only they talked on the 3rd or 4th episode then this drama won’t be draggy as it is due to hot-cold treatment of Win to Korn throughout the show. Lin, Win’s sister is a breath of fresh air. She’s the very few likeable female character in a BL. My concern with her is she is powerless and helpless till the end. Despite that, I have to commend Janhae’s acting for delivering a dual role as Lin and Win.
Another part I’m distressed is that the Mother, Uncle, and Aunt didn’t get the karma they deserved. The Mom was forgiven easily despite the manipulation that she did of the will and forcing Lin and Korn with the engagement while gaslighting Win. This homophobic, plainly evil character deserve to get hit by a karma yet didn’t get it. Very disappointing. The Uncle and Aunt didn’t paid for their sins for the attempted murder, it wasn’t even revealed the horrible thing they did.
Cinematography of the drama is good. The locations where the series shot are exhilarating to the eyes. I wish hey cut some scenes where all they do is eat! One or two scenes of binge eating is enough, but almost every episode I get to see Win (or Lin) eat like a pig which makes me want to skip the scene due to repetitiveness. Music is okay but not exemplary.
There is no doubt that Earth and Mix are great actors, especially Mix. But this show is incomparable from their previous show 'A Tale Of A Thousand Stars'. The only area that this is better than 1000 Stars is that Earth eats Mix's face in the finale, which didn't happen in their previous drama.
You won’t enjoy this unless you are an Earth and Mix fan. I like both actors but the show, not that much. It has the potential but failed to get there.
