We all know the story, the series follows the novel pretty closely, so no surprises there. Overall an enjoyable watch if you fancy a bit of light fluff.

I have rewatched the whole thing as I skipped most of the forth/beam storyline on the first go; not sure why, they're great ;)

Initially I was a bit hesitant about the new cast, like most of us who watched the first production, but rest assured you needn't fear, just go in like it was a new show with a familiar story, they will grow on you big time. In my opinion it's mostly because they don't try to parrot the old cast, they managed to make the characters more or less their own.

On that note, the cast: Ming/Kit and Forth/Beam for me are best cast, their interactions for me are the most believable, and to me they match the books the best. Phana (Ben) for me does not match the feeling I got of him from reading the books, dork with a veneer of smooth-sexy idol, Ben lacks the presence that God has, hopefully he finds a way to fake it till he akes it on the next one! and Wayo (Earth) bless his young little cotton socks, needs to learn to move his shoulder independently from the rest of his upper body (that bugged me from day one).

I'll say the acting needs improving because, although there is undeniable chemistry among the pairings, there was a fair amount of the dialogue that felt stilted/forced, particularly the flirty bits. I say this keeping in mind I know the cast is really young and some of them might have very little experience with love/romance/sex, not to mention that if they are not gay, they have to overcome the emotions that go alongside putting your own sexual orientation in doubt for all the world to see, at an age where you're trying to find your place in world and figure yourself out; so brownie points to all of them regardless.

Overall, not half bad, definitely on my "rewatch when you're feeling blue" list, and I look forward to season 3.
(Btw, WTF! I was so not expecting a cliffhanger at the end!)
