A lighthearted take on gender issues

I wasn't sure what I expected of this show, but I enjoyed it immensely. It's mostly fluffy, sweet fun. If you're looking for a cute romance to brighten your day, this is it! However, I also appreciated the handling of different kinds of gender issues in this show. There is the obvious one of Meguru being androgynous and his journey towards sharing his views on beauty and gender with the world was inspiring. However, there are also other gender and sexuality issues that pop up, like should women have to choose between work and family? Are men held to higher standards in the workplace than women are? Is it forgivable to out someone without their consent? Although it was sometimes a little too on the nose, I really enjoyed the lighthearted way the show approached these topics. My review kind of makes it seem like the show is heavy, but really it's the opposite (sometimes it's VERY goofy...which I loved!)

Heartwarming and Mouth-watering, LOL

Maybe it was just the right show at the right time, but I absolutely adored this drama. After the difficulties of this year, this show really hit the spot (which is accurate since it's 20% a cooking show).

There is light angst and drama, but it's very light. This is fluffy, funny, slice of life at its finest. And the food!! There's something so soothing and peaceful about watching Shiro cook.

There isn't much skinship, so if you are a BL fan expecting that you may be disappointed. But I really didn't find that there was much need for overly physical displays of affection. The love between Kenji and Shiro is palpable in each scene. Each dish Shiro carefully cooks for Kenji is an "I love you."

If you want something light and entertaining that will leave you a bit happier than you were before, this is the show for you.

Light, Heartwarming Drama

This was really fun to watch and I didn't get fatigued halfway through the way I sometimes do with romances. There was a major theme running through of following your dreams, and how difficult it can sometimes be to figure out what that is. I really related to that and felt it made the drama interesting and more thoughtful than your typical romance. I also love a good ensemble, and the cast was amazing together. Such great chemistry among all of them! There was a little bit of a love triangle in there, but it didn't get annoying at all. Very well done drama, I highly recommend if you want something light, thought provoking, funny, and heartwarming!

An amazing show--- if it had been longer!

I'm so conflicted about this show! I loved the concept, and the characters. The ost was sweet and the cinematography was ON POINT.

I just wish it were longer. I know a lot of people complain about this with these short Korean BL shows but hear me out. I didn't feel that way with Mr. Heart (a similarly short BL out of Korea). I felt that the story was well encompassed in the time that was allotted. But Color Rush felt...rushed. There was a LOT of plot crammed into eight 12 - 19 minute episodes, and it just didn't always work. Plus the pacing was a bit erratic - it felt fine through the first half and then the second half of the show felt crammed full of PLOT. Plus there were some loose threads at the end that never seemed to get tied up.

This show definitely would have been better suited to a full 14ish episode season like most other kdramas. It would have given a lot more room for the actors to explore the characters, and for the plot to be spaced out a bit.

All this complaining makes it sound like I disliked this show, but I didn't. At it's best it was sweet, mysterious, dark, and a little sensual. Even at its worst it was a bit confusing but still good. I would definitely recommend watching it, but be warned. You might end up feeling a bit like Yeon Woo after a color rush, LOL.

A quiet, beautiful movie

I wasn't sure what to expect from this movie, mainly because I watched it without reading anything about it beforehand. Right away, the peaceful, quiet pace of the movie grabbed me. The vibe reminds me somewhat of the Hayao Miyazaki movie "Only Yesterday." The plot is a bit different but there are a few vague similarities and the tone is similar.

This movie is low drama. The problems that the MC, Mitsoumi, faces are simple, internal issues that we can all relate to: feeling aimless, having to face change, figure out your priorities all over again when things don't work out. His friendship and eventual romance with Yamato is heartwarming and feels organic. Although I do love BL dramas and their silly tropes, this isn't that type of film. This reads more like a soothing indie film. While watching I felt calm and somewhat mesmerized. There are some truly beautiful scenery shots of the countryside and the music is quiet and rustic. I highly recommend this movie if you are feeling unsettled or need to calm down. I loved every minute of it.

Funny, quirky, relatable!

Just finished this drama and I absolutely loved it. I thought the humor was tasteful and spot-on, and all of the characters were fully developed. There wasn't one character I disliked!

I was expecting something raunchy, but it was actually...heartwarming?? I found parts of it super relatable. If you are a late-20 or early 30-something feeling like maybe you've failed at adulthood, give this a watch. It will definitely raise your spirits! I was left with a warm fuzzy feeling that I adore from dramas.

I usually don't review shows before I'm done but....

I'm enjoying this show so much I really had to jump in and recommend it. I won't give any spoilers here, but I can say that this show has it all - a stellar cast, the music is amazing, and the cinematography is top notch. The story is somewhat basic, but that doesn't usually bother me if the actors are committed and it has a good script. There is lots of sexual tension,. My favorite scenes are where a lot is said with very little words. A look, or a touch - the actors do such a great job. And at the same time it's a relaxing show. If you're on the fence, go ahead and give it a shot!!

Heartwarming friendships

This is the best drama I've seen in a while! If you are a fan of anything - manga, webtoons, kpop, cartoons, video games, sci-fi, etc you will empathize with the characters in this show. A poignant take on how being a part of a fandom both nourishes our souls and sometimes sets us apart or isolates us. At times hilarious, heart warming, and a few heart wrenching moments, I loved every minute of it.

One other aspect of note is the development of the female friendships in this drama. I can't recall ever watching a drama that had this kind of strong, supportive female friendship dynamic - no drama, no backstabbing, just love and support.
Definitely watch if you are needing a pick me up.

Just OK

I've been a bit behind on my BL dramas so I just started watching this today, so I'll be updating as I finish each episode. Therefore, the rating may change if the show improves.

So far, overall impressions:

PLOT: What plot? There doesn't seem to be much of anything going on, outside of the characters' attempts at getting the attention/affection of the people they like. Which is fine but...there's literally nothing else going on. Things happen, but they don't feel connected. It's as if they filmed a bunch of scenes they thought were cool, and then just stuck them all together.

MUSIC: The OST is great, and the background music is so nice. It can be very calming TBH, especially since there isn't much going on plot-wise. Just pretty boys and pretty music, which may be exactly what you need.

CHARACTERS/ACTING: I saw someone else call Solo/Gui "robots in love" and that couldn't be more accurate. The acting is very stiff and the chemistry is nonexistent. I'm hoping this will improve. I'm slightly more interested in Kao/Phu but only because Kao is the only character who has any liveliness to him. Everyone else seems to be just drifting.

I made it to episode 10 before I gave up. Maybe I'll go back and finish at some point, but I can't watch any more. I have several problems with this show:

- The premise of esports seems cool and exciting, but I was pretty bored. A lot (A LOT) of time is given over to flashbacks that really drag and don't really reveal much about what's going on presently. Most of the info in the flashbacks could be condensed or even skipped over. I ended up skipping most of the flashbacks and I didn't find myself confused at all.

- Pretty disappointed in the main character. They hype her up to be this cool genius computer programmer who's also a hugely popular singer, so I was excited because I love talented main characters. Unfortunately, most of the time she's just running after the guy and acting like a total idiot. She never really seems to understand what's going on and doesn't stick up for herself. A lot of reviewers criticize her clothes, but I didn't have a problem with that as much as her terrible lack of personality.

- The pacing of the show is really strange. Certain unnecessary parts take up half the episode, while parts of the show that I'm interested in are skimmed over. I skipped through all the boring bits, but I realized that I was fast-forwarding through at least 60% of the show. Not worth it.

I don't understand how people are saying that this show is exciting.. It's pretty slow. I stuck with it hoping it would pick up, but by episode 10 it should have. I would watch more, but other reviewers got as far as episode 12 and said it was still boring.
