Sweet historical bl worth watching

I am a fan of this genre but this series stands out to me because it is the first historical Korean bl I've seen. The other three historical bl's were Chinese. I am a sucker for a good story and Tinted With You certainly has that. Combined with the great music, stunning scenery, beautiful costuming, expert editing and directing, there is ony one thing I really have to discuss here....the acting.

As an American from the USA I had only become acquainted with K-dramas and K-pop since the COVID-19 pandemic. They made those dark days bearable. A subscription to viki.com had opened up the world to me at a time when I scarcely left the house. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it turned into a K-pop/drama addiction from which I never want to be cured.

The lead actors in this drama were very believable. I had never seen any of them in acting roles before so I didn't have any expectations going into it. Yoo Hyun Woo came off very princely as Lee Heon in a quiet, sweet way. His beautiful eyes made the costuming seem even more exotic and romantic. I was surprised at first to find Jun from A.C.E. as Eun Ho as Jun is much older in reality than the character he portrays but it really fit. He came off as a young, innocent high school student. His reactions were believable and the chemistry between the two main leads was very good. Kim Tae Jung as bodyguard Go Geum did a fine job.

I am now done with the series. I have enjoyed it immensely. I will look forward to seeing these actors again in the future.

A look inside the world of K-pop

I'm an American from the USA who loves K-pop and K-dramas. While I have just an inkling of what the artists go through, it was eye opening to watch this drama. Most of the actors in this show are k-pop performers themselves or have a past history of it. It made it real for me. While the first couple of episodes seem to go slowly as the story is put into place, the more episodes I watched the more hooked I was. There are stories of more than one couple but they all revolve around the music industry. It gave a better look at both established performers, hopeful newbies and rising stars and the struggles they go through.

Although only four are listed as the main leads, I felt there were more than that as they all contributed to the series. I am glad I watched it. I hope this leads to more awareness of what trainees and debuted performers go through. I also hope that there will be a shift in expectations where they are allowed to have a personal life just like everyone else in the world without being harrassed by fans, media or management.

To the cast, crew, director, writer and support staff for "Imitation" I have only these words for you. You've worked hard.

Fantastic cast! Great music. Wonderful story. Terrible editing.

This show had such a great cast. Ki Jin, fashion design student, is played by 2Z's Bum Jun. He had great visuals and also portrayed the creative designer well. Delivery driver, Yeong Woo, played by Eom Se Ung was also good at this role. When he smiled he looked like an adorable shy angel. They had good chemistry together and made the story believable. Professional model, Lee Bin, played by Choo Suk Young, gave a very convincing performance of loving Ki Jin and wanting him to go with him to New York. Unfortunately for him, Ki Jin had already fallen for Yeong Woo. The delivery driver's father, played by Kim Won Shik, was perfect as Yeong Woo's loving dad.

The music in this drama is wonderful, the story great and the acting fantastic. Why then did I only rate it 8.0 overall?

This next part contains spoilers. Please don't read beyond this if that is a problem for you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This seemed like a great drama that should have been a 10 but seemed to be hacked up (edited) to make it shorter. Unfortunately, that left me scratching my head trying to figure out what happened to our trio in the last three episodes. I watched the episodes again thinking I had missed something. I didn't. The answers to my questions must be lying on the editing room floor.

Why did the fashion designer ghost the delivery driver for a year when it was clear they both loved each other? I understand the designer didn't want to go to New York with the professional model. I also understand that he wanted Yeong Woo to model his clothes. We see the delivery driver showing up for the model photo shoot but he is told that the fashion designer has dropped out of the contest and won't be there which breaks Yeong Woo's heart. But why? Because it appears the fashion designer didn't go to New York at all (assumed by the crushed up air plane ticket in the waste basket) and then it shows him a year later set up in his own shop. Then out of the blue the fashion designer orders a bun for delivery and the driver turns out to be Yeong Woo. After an apology without any explanation why he ghosted him, they appear to make up. The last scene is a photo shoot showing all three guys there, seemingly all content. We still don't know what kind of relationship the professional model and the delivery man had back in high school. If it was that unimportant why even throw that in? Why is the professional model back in Korea when he had left for New York a year before? The fashion designer had been adamant that the professional model was too lux to model his casual clothing line so why is he and the delivery man both modeling the clothes in the final photo shoot at the end of the series? Arggggh! And that is how it ended.

If I were the actors I would be totally mad that all their hard work was ruined by the editing. The director should have really fixed this before releasing it to the public.

Gameplay, Best and Folk were very good

Although I loved the three main actors and their chemistry, I thought the series suffered from a lack of editing. Contemplative moments were much longer than necessary to get the point across. The one support character's crush on the Director seemed superfluous since nothing was done about it regarding either a final acceptance of the crush or denial. The storyline where they pushed Gameplay and Folk together to create better chemistry seemed like something the Director would do but when the company did an about flip not wanting main leads who are in a relationship it seemed like a contrived plot diversion. Am I glad I watched it? Yes, but I think the writing and editing could have been a lot better.

Light, funny, short bl romance

I enjoyed watching it very much. It was light hearted, funny, endearing and short. I would enjoy watching another season of it. I thought the actors did a fine job of portraying their characters in a short 8 episode series. I thought all of the characters in the boarding house were interesting with the high school goof ball being very funny. I loved when he was giving dating advice to the main lead. I was sure I knew how it would end until episode 7 ended then I wasn't sure. I especially loved the banter on the couch between the two main leads at the end of episode 8. Very cute.

Beautiful love story

I've watched this show several times because I love it so much. The actors have done a great job with their characters. It was easy to see what the characters were thinking and feeling. It was such a sweet, endearing love story. I'd love to know what happened to the father in Florida. Had he passed away? Gotten a new family? Why hadn't his son heard from him? I didn't know any of the actors in this show but they did an excellent job, main leads and support actors.

I thought the music fit the series very well. I plan to research it to see who actually sang the songs. It was directed well and the editing was very good. Cinematography was so good as well. It looked like a big budget film even though it was a short series.

Excellent show about bullying and learning to love yourself

The actors in this series, including support actors, really portrayed their characters well. Although the storyline contains scenes that are hard to watch due to the bullying, it also has scenes that are funnier than any series I've ever seen (her dad seeing her kiss Cha Cha, the animal print boxers dancing scene, and many more). I've watched this series several times and believe I will continue to rewatch it. All the lead actors are seriously good at their craft and I wanted each of them to have a happy ending which they did.

I did wonder about the dad of Cha Eun Woo's character. Did he pass away in America? Is that why the son seems so sad when he returns to Korea? I'm guessing we are suppose to think that as the son has been away for so long.

I also loved the music for this series and enjoy listening to the soundtrack.
