What would you have done if you were in her shoes?
As a fan of cheating dilemmas , affairs, forbidden love, mature and realistic content , i was instantly drawn to this show.
The cast is spot on , when many will choose Han So Hee as the spotlight stealer of the show, i would personally choose The husband!! The way he portrayed his role was deep rooted in reality . He gave us the broadest spectrum of a typical cheating man . I didnt have any negative feelings for him throughtout my watch . He depicted a pitiful character more than an evil one. I wasnt disgusted or appalled by any of his wrongdoings. He always looked the smallest in the room . To me he was an image of an emotion driven man , as opposed to the cool , charismatic typical kdrama ML.
To not make this review long , i m not going into the details of each character , but i ll have to mention a few things that got a strong reaction out of me . First is the son , i have seen a few comments calling him selfish and i felt the same way , until i realized, he was the most coddled child ever, he had no understanding of adulthood and its complexity . We might be used to the overly mature, thoughtful kid character in kdramas, which is why we didnt empathize with this guy . It took me a second to convince myself that he had an upbringing that made him the spoiled kid that he is . So can we really blame him?
I would also like to add, that suprisingly , the character i was most , and i mean THE MOST annoyed with, is the mother/wife. She pretended to be the opposite of her emotional husband, lived as a fake rational, collected and poised woman, but in real she was a ticking bomb of red flags , negativity, aggressiveness and pent up emotions. I hated every decision she made, every superiority thought she had and every competitive endeavour she pulled at the cost of everyone 's well being, just to feed her egotistic nature.....Not to justify cheating, but i can see why her husband cheated ...
The husband and the wife are both an emotional wreck , insecure and selfish individuals, with two different methods of coping with all that , The father is eaten by the inferiority complexe , while the mother is under the cracked shell of a fake superiority complexe.
