This review may contain spoilers
First, I marked this as "Contains Spoilers" but I'll mark the spoiler before it appears, and be as vague as possible to avoid spoiling major plot points outright. It is simply too hard to explain the big issue with pretty much the biggest plot point of the show without spoiling part of it. You might be confused about the overall rating compared to the others, but honestly, there's more to the show than the things they let you rate. This is the first time I've felt the need to review a show. It might be a bit longer/in depth than most, as that's the type of person I am. I only recently got into BL shows (started with SOTUS/S, then that spiraled into Make it Right/2, then He's Coming to Me, and now this. The others all were amazing, and I went into this apprehensive due to other reviews. However, I'm glad I gave it a chance.
Sound wise, I actually found the intro theme (and the intermission music) to be very catchy and made me smile. That was about all the music I really noticed in the show. However, there were quite a few scenes in the show where the sound guys were TERRIBLE. When the actors were on a bridge, for instance, their voices were muffled by the traffic or waves of the river. If I didn't have subtitles, I wouldn't have known they were talking. Whoever was in charge of the sound on this show did a terrible job at some points. This only occurred 3 or 4 times, but when it did, it was horrendous. The rest of the time, it was fine.
Acting Wise, I'm not sure why people think the acting was bad. I thought it was rather good. Definitely some of the better acting I've seen in Thai dramas. The chemistry between the leads didn't feel forced, and even in the sub-plots, the chemistry between actors felt natural. In the more serious scenes, like with Tee's mom, I felt the emotion, I didn't feel like I was watching a show. And with Tee's grandma, I smiled because it felt like a sincere grandma. That's hard to pull off in a TV show.
Plot Wise, this is where the show suffers. The premise itself is the first weak point. It makes zero sense to begin with. Why would Tee want Mork to be his pretend boyfriend to make Bambi jealous? To fix that mistake, you'd want to make Bambi NOT think you're gay, not make her think you ARE gay. So that made no sense to me.
One other thing is the fact that a LOT of things happen off camera in this show. It got very annoying. Tee's mom was notoriously bad at doing things off camera, as were Gord and Morn. They were pretty good at not having Tee and Mork do things off camera though. The worst part was when characters did do things off camera, the next time they popped up, the writers acted like we had witnessed everything they had done off camera. It was almost as if they filmed everything that had been done off camera, but then cut it from the final product, but then forgot to re-film it with the knowledge we didn't see it.
***SPOILERS START HERE***
I can't really explain this WITHOUT spoiling part of it, but I'll keep it as vague as I can. The BIG plot problem a lot of people (myself included) had with this show is the fact Mork got in a LOT of trouble for the kiss in Snowland. This turned into the main plot of at least half the series. It turns out though, that this is because of poor writing and adapting of the novel. In the novel, the scene they adapted is actually Tee performing a sexual act on Mork in that scene, but they adapted it as a kiss, but kept all of the repercussions. As such, as you can imagine, the repercussions of a sexual act in public make zero sense when applied to a kiss. I won't go into details of what happened, to avoid spoilers, but it is handled very oddly and nothing really makes sense.
Finally, the ending. I've noticed a trend on this site that most people want to know if there's a happy ending when they go into the reviews. Honestly, I don't even know. This was probably the biggest letdown of an ending I've seen in any show, BL or not. It just... ends. There's no closure, nothing. The show just ends. We're left in the dark. I won't explain, as again, I am trying to stay vague. That said, their story does continue in Our Skyy, Episode 3, and they do get a proper ending. However, if you want to know how it ends, you are welcome to read the reviews over there, as I don't wish to spoil that on a review here.
