All-time favorite C-drama
I just finished watching YAMG for the Nth time today, lol. It is my go-to drama if there is nothing that tickles my fancy. Why is this drama a gem?
1. It's short but oh so sweet. Only 30 to 45 minutes per episode. Thus, there are no stupid fillers just to lengthen the scenes.
2. Characters are realistically fleshed out. They are multi-faceted. Main leads are not just lovers, scenes also showed them as friends to their colleagues, beloved child to their parents and competent career people.
3. The love story is borne out of maturity. The scenes between FL and ML are organic. No tropes like FL falling to the arms of ML in slow motion, lol. The dialogues are witty and funny. Camaraderie and chemistry between leads are insanely good. There is a healthy amount of kissing and hugging, too.
4. Science stuff is cool. There were a lot of scenes on aero space engineering most of which i do not understand, lol. I was intrigued though. It sure looks fun to build something that can travel to space.
The advantage of a drama that is adapted from a novel is it's layered storytelling. I love the simplicity of its major premise: People can achieve great things if there is someone who supports and love them. There is a strong energy that catapults humans to reach for the stars when they know there is at least one person who believes in them and their dreams.
