Up until episode 12, I would have given this show 9 stars...I really liked it. I couldn't understand why it didn't have a higher rating. The acting, casting, and storyline were all wonderful.  Then I watched the last two episodes. WTF?! Not sure what the writers were thinking, but they took a show I was thoroughly enjoying and made me hate it! I've watched a lot of dramas and this ending has to be the worst of the bunch.  If you choose to watch it, I recommend skipping the last two episodes.  It is disheartening to watch and will make you feel like you wasted your time watching the previous episodes.

Here we go again...another drama where the female lead is clumsy and talks and acts like a 12 year old. This drama has all the cliches, complete with the chick falling into various bodies of water FOUR times and needing to be rescued. Girl needs to learn to swim and rescue herself. I felt zero chemistry with the leads. The male lead, Yibai, was likeable, but too passive. The saving grace to this show was the second couple, QQ and Yang yang. Were they enough to make me watch this again or recommend it? Nope. But if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have been able to get through the series.

I’m on episode 41 now and struggling to get through this drama for one main reason. I HATE the female lead Man An. This “girl” represents everything I dislike about Taiwanese dramas (which I love when the female lead is of strong character). I can’t think of one redeeming quality about Man An other than she is loyal. She uses baby-talk throughout the entire series, pouts, can’t do a single thing by herself without messing up, is clumsy, constantly gets hurt, and is completely dependent on others. There is nothing “ke ai” about her performance. Maturity wise, I put her at about 12 years old. I’m not kidding. Which leads me to my next issue, what does Ying Jie see in her? He almost seems like a pedophile when he’s holding her hand because it’s like he’s holding a child’s hand. This show could have been so much better if they made Man An’s character a mature woman and more on par with Ying Jie. For this reason, I have totally checked out of this relationship and am more interested in the side relationships. So, if you like needy females that act pre-teenish and are innocent to the level of ridiculousness, then this is the show for you.

I stumbled upon this on Viki, not expecting much, and it blew me away. I watched it in one go and believe me, this is one of those shows that sticks with you and leaves an impression long after you’ve watched it. I originally gave this show a 9.5 because of the ending. However, I changed it to a 10 because, in the end, the rest of the story was just THAT good. If you want to read their story and find out what happens after, click on this link: http://saehan01.com/chapters-1-111/
I highly recommend reading the books. They are an easy, exciting read and it will engross you. Don’t expect to get much done because once you start the books, you won’t be able to put them down.

I loved Addicted (another Chai Jidan story) and came across this hoping to find something similar to it. What this show lacks in intimacy, it makes up for in the acting and major eye candy. To fill in the blanks that couldn’t be aired, you have to read the book (which you can find transcribed in English on various websites). I’ve seen other BL dramas that had lots of intimacy, but the story fell flat. This was better than all of those. As far as BL dramas go, this is my #2 fave, after Addicted.

Wow. So I’ve known about ISWAK for a long time now, but never bothered to watch it because it looked a bit too silly for my liking. I’m in my 40’s, so watching a teen manga show isn’t something I would gravitate towards. I also don’t enjoy shows where the female lead is childish, ridiculously innocent, naive, immature, incapable of doing anything on her own, and clumsy, like you see so often in these dramas. And yet the male lead somehow is attracted to this overgrown child. This show is the exception. All of the above happens, but it WORKS. Against all odds, this and it’s sequel are in my top 5 dramas of all time. Words cannot describe how much I love this drama. Yes, you will find some things that will make your skin crawl...don’t get me started on Christine and her dad’s lack of an English accent even though they are British royalty. But, overall this show is one of the best.
