While Takane no Hana-san is not a gay romance, it is aslo a romance (and comedy). In Takane no Hana-san, Takamine Hana has a huge crush on Yowaki Tsuyoshi and acts in an eccentric way (as if fangirling over him). She hides this side of herself from Yowaki Tsuyoshi, much like Akafuji Yuichiro hides his from Aoyanagi Hajime in BL Drama no Shuen ni Narimashita: Crank Up Hen.

The two male leads in BL Drama no Shuen ni Narimashita: Crank Up Hen work together which provides us with plenty of funny interactions between the two as this secret is trying to remain as such. Same with Takane no Hana-san, though the female lead and her love interest are superior and subordinate instead of co-workers of an equal level.

Both dramas star Ogoe Yuki if anyone is interested in this actor. He has a more prominent role in Takane no Hana-san as the female lead's love interest.

Both titles feature a lead character who was a friend, and love interest, to the other lead before suddenly passing away due to an accident. The deceased leads, Koichi (Eternal Yesterday) and Meiko (Anohana), get to spend time more with their love interests, even after death, giving them a chance to better express any feelings they may not have spoken out loud yet. They also get to do things together that they may not have had the chance to do anymore due to the fact that one passed away.

Ngao Asoke is similar to Sud Sai Pan when comparing plot devices. Similar incidences occur to keep the story going.

- Both contain a flirty female character (interested in the ML) who lies and blames her misdeeds on the FL. The FL gets blamed for these things, which leads the ML to think less of her and think she is after money.
- Both take place in a similar time period.
- In Ngao Asoke, the FL has supportive in-laws. And if memory serves right, they are also supportive in Sud Sai Pan.
- Both have nice FLs and rich MLs.

- While Sud Sai Pan revolves around identical twins, Ngao Asoke does not. The ML in Sud Sai Pan is more aggressive and forceful.

This is the original story to the movie. They are made by the same production, have the same cast, and have the same content. The drama series aired first and contains scenes from the story that are not shown in the movie. This is recommended if you want to see more of the characters and get a more in-depth understanding of the movie and drama.

Both dramas feature two guys living together. There is also a female character that misunderstands their relationship. The comedy is purposefully exaggerated in both. Scenes are shown that may seem like the two guys are gay and in a romantic relationship (when they are not), if seen by an outside perspective.
