Mixed Feelings
To start, the synopsis is not accurate and needs to be updated, as it is based on the book and not the show.I really wanted to like Han Sen, but he was so selfish up until literally the last episode. (Though I am glad he finally woke up and started being decent, it took way too long) Ah Li was one of the most unbelievable characters I have ever seen. No woman that successful would put her career and freedom at risk the way she does all for one man. Her obsession ruined so many lives, including her own. The way she had zero remorse right up until the end was gross.
I hated how many things were left unresolved. Nan Sheng/Qiao Man never confronted He Ping over the whole pregnancy thing with Ah Li, so I don’t know if she ended up believing it or not. We don’t know if she forgave her “sister”, she didn’t even go see her college “best friend” when she regained her memories, we don’t know what happened to Han Sen’s brother’s wife and BIL (they started scheming at one point for what reason?), Peter came back in for what??, what happened to Ben?, The Beacon seemed like such a big deal for some reason and then eventually it just….isn’t, what happened to Nan Sheng’s uncle? I could just go on and on. I liked the casting and thought the acting was good, it just dragged so much for no reason. I’ve never seen so many flashback episodes either. I’d almost rather watch a drama based on everything going on in the past before she loses her memories.
Also, the ending was terrible. Though we know they very likely do finally end up together, I’d have liked it to feel more satisfying. They obviously love each other and I wish Nan Sheng would have been an adult about her feelings instead of just running away. I think they could adapt this into a movie instead and it would be better.

Great show until it wasn’t
I loved the beginning of this show, but after about 16 episodes it felt like they rushed to finish it. I absolutely hated the ending. If it’s already unrealistic and there’s magic and mermaids, why couldn’t there be a magical way to make a happier ending for everyone? The ending was really abrupt…like…it happened so fast and was just over. Also, half of the last episode was all flashbacks. I’m just disappointed, this had so much potential. Not only that, but certain plot points felt like they were pointless and left unresolved. What was the point of the brother being a half blood mermaid prince? What happened to the dad’s company after he came back? This either needs another season to fix the terrible ending or like a movie.

Perfect
I know I'm late on this, but wow...after watching, this is by far my favorite kdrama yet. I loved every single character, every one of them. I like that none of the relationships felt forced or thrown in, everything just felt organic and real. I honestly don't even know how I'd never even heard of this one before and I'm pretty sad I missed out on it for so many years. Without giving anything away, I'll just say the way they wrapped it up was satisfying enough that it didn't need more but definitely left you wanting more. I know there are other versions, but the casting for this was so perfect I really can't see the others having even close to the same feel. I also want to throw in that I was having major gender envy the entire time, the main character really did pull off both better than I thought she would. Was this review helpful to you?
