Simple Typical School BL
**Brief Synopsis**
B (Student): Gun
T (Student): Tinn
- Beginning: B and T are both students at the same school. B is member of a band and T is school president. B’s band will have to disband if it doesn’t contribute to the school unless he can get T to agree for them to stay. B seems to think that T doesn’t like him very much and won’t help him keep his club, but T actually has a crush on B. But B is oblivious to a lot of things so doesn’t realize when T is helping him. But in order to get his club authorized, B perseveres, appearing more and more in T’s vicinity.
- Middle: Still pretending that he doesn’t feel a thing for B, T continues to help B, explaining to B he’s only helping him win an important music competition is because of the school’s reputation. He even offers to tutor him when B asks him. And the more time they spend together, an attraction starts to develop and B starts to feel something for T as well. From that point onwards, we start feeling some tension between the two. After a while, T is unable to pretend he feels nothing and finally confesses to B who says he feels the same way. But there is an issue that B can’t date before the competition is over.
- End: After the competition, they start to date officially. They wanted to keep it on the down low but when a photo of them kissing is uploaded, they become known school wide. B is bothered when not everyone reacts positively to it but T reassures him that they will always be together. The series ends with them coming out to T’s parents and having their first kiss.
**My Opinion**
WHAT I LIKED ABOUT IT:
- The actors look really good together because both of them are really good looking.
- I actually like how awkward T is at the beginning because he doesn’t want his crush to show but he doesn’t know how to interact with B. And he can’t confess because he knows B can’t date until he wins that music competition. So he invents a reason for him to help them.
- I actually like the tutor trope even if it’s super cliche. B has to pass his exams to continue to do his music so T agrees to tutor him.
- I like the concept of T acting like a love sick idiot when he thinks of B and immediately turning emotionless when B enters the room (he also acts as if B was bothering him when he’s really happy about B’s presence). If only T was better at acting like a love sick idiot. His acting only makes it look weird and a little cringey.
- I absolutely loved how T would carefully touch B’s hand, afraid B would reject him. It’s super romantic.
- The comfort thing is also a cliche but I love how it got them to hug.
- I love the subtle signs of affection such as holding hands in secret because they cant really be obvious about it.
- I love how it’s relatively angst free.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE ABOUT IT:
- The acting is truly horrible at times. Reactions and expressions of anger or joy are exaggerated and unnatural. Sometimes the acting is too plain, emotionless and other times way too exaggerated, borderline cringey.
- This is a typical school romance, meaning things happen to serve the plot and not because it makes sense. For example, what normal school has ball dancing class as a class you have to take? It’s only there so the leads can dance together.
- The romance is really slow burn meaning things progress really slowly. In the beginning episodes, all we know is that T has a crush on B but we don’t see any signs of that except for a smile or two.
- I didn’t like the singing or the songs, but some people liked it so this is mostly a “me” thing.
- The whole “T wants to confess to B that he’s the one he likes but every time he tries to confess, he gets interrupted, leaving B to believe T likes someone else” plot is simply cliche and lazy writing. It serves no purpose other than extend the run time.
- The show spends way too much time showing random high school stuff like gym class or eating lunch. It makes the show seems longer then it needs to be because those scenes are really boring.
- This show is really tame when it comes to intimate touches, because of the no dating rule, B and T don’t even kiss even after confessing their feelings. But they do flirt which is cute. They haven’t kissed and B’s mother already know about them.
- There are a lot of cliche tropes in this show so don’t expect any memorable moments or plot twists.
**Conclusion**
This is an okay watch that I won’t revisit.
