Come on!...what just happened?
I read some of the reviews, and whole heartedly agree with the following:1. Slow! Slow! Slow! Too many " fillers".
2. Unnecessary, l o n g staring...while Zung expresses his feelings thru his eyes, it cannot be said about Mark's insanely long, unpenetratable staring and long, well, saying nothing...
3. Does anybody really believe Aek's ( Mark) lack of sensing the love/lust coming at him? If he struggles with his own feelings, there is no clear indication...and we are already on ep 8...
4. How many nasty/ jealous/ having their own agenda Chefs do we need in one story???
As for why I will continue to watch it:
1. Main couple is beautiful, and hopefully the natural chemistry will come thru...it is a bl!
2. The photography...the food...the music...Aue supporting family...
3. The trailers ( happy ending...).
4. Hoping the director will let Mark show some real acting going forward...I trust he can act. Zung is great already.
So far, a bit disappointing. I have noticed in other BL stories the tendency to keep slow motion untill the last episode and then tidy everything in a real hurry....hoping this is not the case here.
Update after the 10th episode- what I was hoping for happened...Mark (Aec) is expressing what he is feeling, and he can act! Finally, he becomes clearer and we understand what he going through and his inner struggle...glad the director did not wait to the very last moment. I changed my overall impression accordingly ?
Well...I just watched Ep 11, and reduced my overall impression accordingly. I hope the producers read these reviews - I hereby strongly suggest to never employ the screen writer, and especially never use the director! What a waste of two talented actors! Everything about it was wrong! The idiotic dialogues ( who cares about pork??? Yes, we got the symbolism of the food in prior episodes), the unrealistic lack of progression in their romantic and physical relationship ( a peck of lips and a hug?!? really?), turning the MC into a boring, secondary couple to the dessert Chef and his BF giving them a bed scene and the longest love confessions scenes (one minute was enough), Playtime is involved with Eve!?!?..What was that all about???? 10 last minutes showing scenes from prior episodes!?!?! Why? We saw it already! Nothing made any sense. I am so disappointed with this lackluster end...

Seriously?
After " Where your eyes linger" and "To the stars" and some other Korean BL - how could they produce such a blah, doesn't make any sense, lackluster series? even the actors gave up in the middle...A tiny bit better than "Bite me" but as disappointing...come on! Cute actors, but mostly wooden performance...if you are uncomfortable with BL, just don't accept the role...as simple as that. As to the screen writing and directing - try harder, much harder...the BL community watches, expect way more and became more sophisticated than 13 years old...Was this review helpful to you?
Delightful!
Really good acting, sizzeling chemistry, enjoyable OST ( love that song!) and above all - the short guy can be really assertive when he needs to...I am so sick and tired of the timid, passive, wide eyed deer cought in the headlights...not here. Yes, there is a bit of the OCD lead playing against the happy go lucky lead trope, also the enemies to lovers trope, but here it is just cute. and not tiring. You go Shorty, he is yours! It doesn't hurt that both ML are gorgeous in their own way...one in red from top to bottom, the other in plaids and baseball cap - and each eventually dropps the act...watch it. Highly recommended for following week by week or a delightful binge.

Beyond redemption....
Boring. Lustless. A chewed up plot, absolutely no chemistry between the ML, terrible acting ( or complete lack of) by SHK who just cannot continue to have a career based on her beauty alone, and should not accept romantic roles with much younger actors ( must be very stressful..).JKY , whom I liked since his "The boy next door" years ago, is just there... that's about pretty much sums up the acting of both.
What bothers me is why are they even in love?
almost every scene together is all about agony, sadness and unhappiness and new challenges...I cannot remember any scenes where they are just happily together, doing what couples in love should feel and do...
The KDrama industry is becoming more and more sophisticated with some amazing actors who successfully tackle complicated stories and script writing....There is not much room for below average series...and this series is just blah...

Addicted...
I reay liked Ohm from his other BL projects, and then came Nanon...and the combination is magical. The acting, directing, script writing - elevated Thai BLs to a new level. Being mainly a fan of Korean and Taiwanese series, BB cought me by surprise. A very good surprise.I love the directing. I love the screen writing...every intelligently and naturally spoken line, every glance, every smile and shrug has a meaning. Love their different styles of expressing their inner struggle ...their fears...even the usual tropes and episodes "fillers" (romping on the beach, bus ride to a volunteer camp, promoting goods...,) are done in a non cringe way, not awkward or blatant.
And who can forget that finger licking scene?!?!

It just doesn't make any sense...
I just finished watching Ep 8 (final) and the only thing I could think was "this is the worst directing/editing/scripting job"... Why did Tommy leave with no notice if they are so in love? Where did BaDa go for a year? When we have cells, Zoom, FB, WhatsApp, etc - is it even possible not to be in touch? ( It reminded me of the horrible "My sweet dear" where the lovers were out of touch for 3 months like it's normal..).I was really excited about this series, but it did not deliver for me. Beautiful shots of the ocean do not make a memorable series. I felt bad for GiChan - I really like him as an actor and wish to see him in a better shows. I respect Holland as a singer and a LGBT icon, but he needs to improve his acting. Sorry. Was this review helpful to you?
Strong beginning, now slow burn...
I had high hopes for yet another Taiwanese BL series...HiStory, We Best Love...and I am not sure how I feel about this series. The story about two lawyers, a shy laundromat owner and a bar tender, with a yet unexplained sad bar owner had great potential...but it starts to look like an adaptation of Thai tropes, including the "deer cought in the head lights" kiss...the actors are good, the chemistry is undeniable, the story is about mature, working adults, but it slowed down too much to hold my interest. I have no intention to drop the series, I still really like it, but I sincerely hope for the next episodes to pick up speed. Was this review helpful to you?
Slow, slow, slow
Maybe being a western bl follower, I am expecting a faster development from each episode...I have written before that I am tired of the highschool trope...other more mature series, like trapped and to my star, are about young men in their 20th or 30th, with working careers and real life, not stuck in uniforms (with the exception of ' where your eyes linger' which was a pleasure)..as to ' light on me' I find myself loosing patience with the weird ( yet actually smart...) Main character wondering about what each gesture of the other students mean...it's true the triangle makes mewant see more, but on the other hand, I have resigned myself to binge watch it when it will be more advanced.
I am surprised at the high rating from other viewers, but it really may be due to different expectations or cultural differences re: speed of developments in hormone driven teenagers...lol.
Anyway, I plan to finish watching it in installments of 3-4 episodes at a time.

It's just getting worse and worse...
I cannot start to describe my disappointment from this latest installment of the HIStory series. While all other installments got better and better (especially the unforgettable "Trapped") this seems to be made by a different production, written by an immature teenager with silly jokes about" who is 0 and is 1" and "dicks sizes", and directed by a homophobe...The ridiculous storyline and the way some very serious issues are handled left me literally in disbelief. The macho fratboy vs. the androgenous/effeminate character, the sweet older brother vs. the obsessed Psyco younger brother - none makes sense, and none works toward the message of the other HIStory stories that "love is love", in a positive, loving way. The preview for the next episode (11-12) makes it even worse...(who tapes himself raping the man he claims to love to show to his parents ????). This is not the HIStory we love. Much has been written about the moral issues and the two annoying females, so I will not get into it. The poor actors do their best, but they have very little to work with. It is not what we expect from a BL series in 2021, especially when we have "We best love" and some awesome Korean series. In short, horrible. Was this review helpful to you?
A bit disappointing, but will keep watching
Since I just watched and rewatched "Where your eyes linger" and "To the stars" I had high hopes for this mini-series...but...so far, and I sincerely hope it will improve in the next episodes I found this one to be a bit too slow. While we got an idea about the dancer and his dreams, the debt collector is still a mystery. Their chemistry is not clear or obvious. Their budding "friendship" does not show any outside interests and interactions outside the circumstances they met (innocent dancer and fed-up debt collector on his last mission). The storyline is quite unique, but it really needs to pick up the pace. I'll probably watch the next 4 episodes together, not curious enough on a weekly basis. Hopefully, it will change my mind in a positive way.Was this review helpful to you?
It takes guts to re- enact the original series "Antique"..
Kim Jae Wook, Ju Ji Hoon, Yoo Ha In...all three fabulous Korean actors from the original story (Antique, 2008) went on to become well known and respected TV and movie stars...Singto and the rest of the crew, including directing and producing will have to work really hard to match up...I try to like the Thai version, but so far though it's early on, I feel it's dragging and lacks excitement. It may be that I liked the original version with the original cast so much, it makes it hard to compare favourably...I will continue to watch and hopefully enjoy this version as well. Was this review helpful to you?
