slow and moody with added basketball
I know this seems to be the main criticism of this show... but I liked how this series spent time allowing the characters to be flawed. As a depiction of young people at a time in their lives where everything is changing, it did a good job of exploring how uncertainty about your self and your future, alongside your mental health, effects your relationships with your friends and family. So, i think the slow pace and frustration that Mon made me feel at the beginning of this show was actually pretty good.
But then for me, it is not always necessary to "like" characters – and this show is more about watching someone in a bad headspace make bad decisions until eventually they start to pull themselves together (with a lot of help from their friends and family).
There were some things that i think were bad writing choices that served only to drag things out another few episodes (im looking at you, So and So's mum...) and at times I think a little more positivity (or at least depictions of fulfilling relationships) would have helped to give viewers a bit of a break and made this show more enjoyable to watch. I'd say it ought to have been an 8-10 episode run instead of 12.
Overall, this show was well-crafted and I enjoyed watching, but probably won't re-watch. Without giving too much away, lets just say the vibes kind of stay pretty melancholic throughout.
