This film definitely seeks a wider non-Asian audience with its many cross cultural references, the main one being European art. Van Gogh’s Starry Night is an important part of the movie and plays an important part in the narrative. Xu Jiao was great as Mei and Eric Lin was also good as Jay. Starry Starry Night is a sweet and simple story of adolescence, personal development and innocent love. This movie is filled with rich visuals. Visual effects like paper animals and three legged elephant have connection with characters’ emotions and that adds extra charm to this movie. There isn't anything more to tell about this movie. Its just beautiful...simple yet effective.
