Really fun period mixing ghost drama.

This drama was super fun to watch even though the story got pretty emotional toward the end. There's a lot of comedy, the actors all did a really impressive job playing off each other, the music was really well done. The female lead is just annoying enough to keep you entertained. The male lead is your typical conceited jerk K-drama trope guy, but he gets more interesting as the show goes on. The supporting characters all had really fulfilling and relevant storylines. The sets and visuals were all really appealing to look at. The god was gorgeous. But more than all of that, the storyline was exceptionally well done and interesting with plenty of comedy to break up the more serious moments.

The only thing I didn't like much about the show was the male lead's haircut. It was such a bad look for him that I skipped over this show several times before I gave it a chance.

Packed with comedy and mystical fantasy!

This is one of my favorite dramas and one of the first K-Dramas I ever watched. The lead actor is def in my top 10 favorite K-drama actors. He does the whole arrogant obnoxious brat thing suuuuper well but delivers his lines with such good humor and intelligent understated comedy. He especially seems to play well off the supporting characters in the show, which creates a real feeling of synergy and chemistry. A lot of Kdramas that are good seem to also have sort of stale interactions with supporting characters, but this drama really does an awesome job of individually scripting each supporting character to create a fleshed out world full of detail. It's a lot of fun to watch in every scene.

My only real dislike with this drama was a minor one...I really hate it when they take a strong independent female lead and turn her into a simpering lovesick weakling by the end. But it wasn't too bad in this particular drama, she still kicked major butt and the actress did a really nice job portraying an aloof but deep character.

Confusing levels of multi-dimensional taboo love

This drama was pretty good with an engaging story that often became super convoluted and confusing but was wrapped up really well at the end...apart from the whole in love with your mom thing. Like ok....so it's your mom from another dimension...it's still your mom and WTF you doing, boy? And like...once you figure out it's your mom why you still trying to get with her. IDC what dimension you're from, if you birthed me or any version of me I'm not DTF.

Apart from the romance, the drama's actual storyline was really fascinating. Any sci-fi theme show I'm down to watch, but I liked that this one had elements of sci-fi that you could envision being possible in present-day world with a few minor fantasy upgrades. I'd maybe watch this one again, if I can get past the taboo romance part.

My Favorite Bromance of 2021

Ok so...yes, the story isn't super complex. And yes, some of the side character story arcs are beyond superficial. But dudes, this drama was so much fun to watch I didn't care. Obviously, the star of the show is the relationship between the two male leads. They had great bro charisma together and I loved them both as enemies and as allies. Literally anything could have happened in the story and as long as that relationship was still the main plot point I would have loved it. So yes, the story is perfunctory to the drama, but who cares when it's just the platform the comedy rebounds off of.

Several of the side characters were really done as well, like the shady shrink dude and the rookie cop. Mostly the side characters were just random drop-ins, well played across the board, but not a lot of material for most of them to work with. Some of the side characters were pretty random, like the prosecutor turned lawyer and his mother...that was a weird addition, though they played their roles really well.

The drama did give me a scare toward the end when I thought...oh shit, they gonna Mouse me and ima be so pissed. But in the end they sorted everything out in their own fashion. I even cried at the end, which was super silly so I'm going with it wasn't a "story made me sad" cry but more of a "don't go cause you're the best part of this drama" cry.

I should say, I'm generally not a Lee Dong Wook superfan ...Don't egg my house. I mean, little dude is mega pretty, like too pretty with really nice hair...but I can't deal with him in romances at all, like obv the chick is gonna dig him, look at his hair yo. I mean he's had some brooding roles that he plays super well, but I think comedy is where he really stands out. Either that, or I just like comedy more than "Edward Scissorshoulders" type dramas. I definitely liked the dude in this drama, but can we get him to play some variation of the Joker at some point, cause little buddy has a massive mouth just begging for an evil villain treatment.

Anyhow, overall I'd say watch this drama (if you can find it) because it's definitely good for a few hundred laughs without forcing you to think too hard about a detailed plot that doesn't really exist. Watch it like you read a one-and-done comic book, it's great entertainment.

There is a lot of poop in this drama.

This drama is good for a light fun time...with some dark corruption themes mixed in because Kdrama....and occasional ass explosions peppered here and there to keep things real. I especially enjoyed the comedy and character development. Hands down, the best part about Kdramas like this is that every minor character gets their moment in the sun, everyone gets their turn to be a hero. You go into it hating certain bad guys (or sometimes good guys if they're too pompous) and you come out of it liking almost everyone in the end. The bobbed haircut dude was so funny, the little Thai dude was hilarious, even the bread eating space enthusiast was super fun to watch. But hands down the best performance was from the female lead. She's so so so pretty but man can she do weird things with her face. She's over the top dramatic and I loved the scenes at the beginning when she's amping up the macho to fit in with the gross old dudes. The ML was great as well, he had a lot of emotional range... but the FL really outshines just about everyone in this drama.

The action scenes were pretty well done, I really liked the female cop flying through the air to swat a bad guy, though I was annoyed she always got knocked down eventually. Like ok, I get it, she's the rookie apprentice level fighter and she had to get knocked down for the priest dude to save the day...but still, I'd have liked to see her to get to kick some solid ass more frequently. The priest dude action scenes were well done, the humorous ones were especially fun to watch. The only times I was not impressed by the action scenes is when they clearly filmed the shots in much slower motion and then very obviously sped them up to the point where they looked unrealistic. This mostly happened at the end.

The only minor complaint I have is that some smaller plot points had a lot of screen time initially but never went anywhere. I won't give too many examples, because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who reads this, but the main dropped plot point imo was the impetus for the sidekick cop dude to look the other way. Like it's a thing for many many episodes, and then suddenly it's just not a thing. I get that was part of his redemption arc, but the threat of specific people being harmed that kept him off the straight and narrow just vanished as well. Like clearly the bad guys used the threat effectively for years, so why do they just drop the issue when little cop dude starts popping a doggo mask to take them all down?

Overall it was a really solid drama and good for a comedy watch (with a few tears sprinkled in for dramatic effect). I might watch this again in a few years, there wasn't a lot of mystery or puzzles to figure out, so there's nothing that would really be spoiled for me in rewatching it. While I tend to not rewatch dramas ever, the really fun comedies can be exceptions. For anyone thinking I rated this drama low, for me scores of 7 and higher are pretty decent dramas. To get a 10 you'd have to be epic. This drama was good and well done, but not epic. Which is ok, not every drama has to be a 10 right!

SO MUCH LIQUID CAME OUT OF MY FACE HOLES

Thank god there were only 10 episodes...I think I'd probably die from dehydration if there were more than 10 episodes of this drama. Every minute of every episode is a tear jerker. Good grief, I didn't know I even HAD this many tears to cry. Basically everyone is sad and the world is a sad shitty place. I mean clearly they make the show mostly about finding peace amidst the pain, but gosh is there so much pain represented here. Though, even with all the pain, I did like that we weren't forced to watch countless unrealistic happy endings; everything was bittersweet, it doesn't try to fill the sorrow holes it creates with bunches of fake flowers. My advice, if you watch this drama, make sure you drink lots of fluids.

The drama itself had a pretty basic storyline, it was well crafted but not complex. There were a crap ton of social messages, but they weren't invasive and were well integrated. Nothing about this drama was invasive at all. It didn't really ask you to think or figure things out, it basically only asked you to cry along with everyone else watching it as events unfold. The acting was decent, the main character did a pretty great performance as an autistic kid, especially with not making eye contact. There is generally a lot of criticism when actors try to play autism spectrum roles, "he didn't do this right or that right"...but the reality is that there are so so many different points on the autism spectrum and not every autistic person responds the same. This actor hit enough of the right points to make the character believable without being overacted, gimmicky, or grotesque.

Really, the main character being autistic was convenient for the story because it separated out emotional response from logical response and allowed the viewer to consider both aspects. It also gave the viewers a refuge from the constant pouring rainfall of sadness and allowed them to experience aspects of the story they might not have been able to experience without that sort of grounding logic-based reasoning. They played off this really well throughout the drama, allowing the side-characters to react emotionally and leap to conclusions while the lead character always brought everything back down to earth with a more macro view of the situation.

Overall, it was a really well executed simple drama. I see a lot of reviews wanting a season 2, since it's a Netflix drama and the ending is left sort of open for a sequel. If they end up dropping a season 2 I will watch it....but I will definitely pick the right day to watch it when my poor sensitive heart won't bust in two. SO MUCH LIQUID CAME OUT OF MY FACE HOLES....

Chemistry? What are you all on about, this thing played like an ad for Lithium.

It's so difficult to rate things low because I feel like I'm invalidating and insulting the genuine efforts of all the cast and production crew who for sure worked their hardest to create the drama. The problem is... the chemistry between the actors in this drama is terrible. I generally love supernatural dramas, and this one had an interesting and fun plot, so it was disappointing to see everyone walking around like they were on lithium, emotionless and comatose. The sound effects were also terribly done, with poor timing and bizarre elements like the sound of food boiling overlaid on steamless not-boiling soup, or door shutting noises that seem completely mismatched with the door type.

I don't know exactly where it went wrong...I spent a long time trying to figure it out. Regardless of what the actor-specific fanbois/girls say in these reviews here, there was virtually zero connection between any of the actors/actresses. The lead pair might as well have been siblings. Why even write a romance arc if you're gonna have it be acted so listlessly? The female lead and her office manager had terrible chemistry too. Everyone was stiff and distant. It was like watching a table read where each person is in a separate room reading lines to themselves. There was no acting together, they were each of them just delivering monologues in the general direction of other people. I don't know if that's a casting thing, or directing, or acting. The characters just really felt like they wanted to be somewhere else.

The bright points in this drama were the special effects, the fashion, and the action sequences. Those felt really refined and tbh felt a little out of place in the midst of such mediocre lethargic interactions. The special effect in the eyes of the leads, especially the female lead, was absolutely beautiful. The female lead was well styled to accentuate the sort of gothic look they were going for; her hair was perfectly pitch black, her eyes were pitch black, and her outfits pretty much always accented the overall dark and vampy look. The action sequences were fun to watch and well done, the female lead ended up looking like a total badass.

The story itself was fun in concept, but the dialog was so bland and simple that it distracted me a lot from the fun theme. Everything had these weird long pauses inserted. Someone would speak, a few seconds would go by with no even facial expression acknowledgement of comprehension, then someone else would speak, another pause, then the first person would speak. Like were they in separate rooms on Zoom because of COVID? Why was there a delay before almost every line delivered? The dialog and delivery just didn't flow. Everything seemed out of synch and that caused it to drag frequently.

All in all, even though it was a fun theme and visually appealing, I can't justify rating this drama anything but low. Kdramas are well known across the world for their emotional facial expressions and interactions. When you watch a good Kdrama you FEEL what the character is feeling, you connect and relate to them. This drama just doesn't give viewers much to latch on to, and as such it just doesn't stack up well when you compare it to other Kdramas.

Is it 2018 or 1988??

Gosh this drama is cringey....from the elevator stock music soundtrack, to the overly soap opera story, to the horrifically tacky cinematography. Like...whenever there's a "time" effect they do this super ugly double vision sort of screen flash. Even the normal scenes have terrifying cinematography with weirdly timed freeze frames...it's so hard to watch, like a cheesy soap opera from the 1980s. The lead actor...idk who was responsible for his wardrobe but why couldn't they have at least ironed his clothes. The poor dude is always dressed in wrinkled tacky rags. The soundtrack is so so bad...the instrumental music is distractingly bad.

The storyline is super dated feeling too...like it's 2018 so why have they incorporated so many rapey AF lines from the male lead and even set the female lead's brother up in a situation where he might have screwed the lead's best friend while she was passed out drunk. It's like the plot of a bad porn or greasy romance novel. The screenwriter has only this as a credit on their profile, the director isn't known for producing hits really...so I guess all of that comes through in this drama. I feel bad giving the actors a bad rating here because it doesn't seem like they actually had a chance to make anything good out of this ultimately trash drama. The ending of the story has so many plot holes you might as well use it to strain your pasta.

Don't bother watching this unless you're bed ridden and have watched pretty much every other drama....twice.

Turns out...humans can't fart rainbows.

The funniest part about this drama is the disclaimer at the beginning of every episode letting you know that all characters in the show are fictitious and not real. Every time I'm like....wait...so you mean humans can't actually shit rainbow sparkles to beat evil spirits?!? I mean like...so disappointed with humans right now.

This drama was really well written, it's a really solid piece with good acting, decent music, and lots of exciting fight scenes. I like that one of the counters is a granny, and one of them is some eccentric old rich dude (actually a pretty cute little old guy, I liked him a lot). There are some inconsistencies and plot holes, especially around the fight scenes. Like sometimes I don't get how Ha-Na is supposed to be super strong yet she sometimes is a badass and other times she sits a fight out like a weakling with no real explanation...like is she a badass or not? The granny sitting out I get, because she's primarily a healer after all. They actually dropped Ha-Na's storyline for several episodes too, which made no sense because they kept every single other counter's back story going in those episodes. It was also awfully convenient that they brought in a Singapore counter to die so they wouldn't have to kill off any of the main counters....poor dude.

The other thing I can't figure out is how the lead character, the high school kid, manages to pretty consistently keep one eye twice as big as the other eye with this sort of constant either shocked or hurt or hurt and shocked expression...it's basically like o.O constantly. Little dude cries at the drop of a hat too, he's definitely great at portraying an emotional teenager. I'm 90% convinced he's actually an anime character drawn into the show. The people from Yun are a little strange as well, I really liked all of them and thought they did a good job...except Wi-Gen...I dunno if I'm supposed to like her, she seems like a total dick though. Even her sort of redemption arc it doesn't seem like she's ever going to have the same chemistry with her counter that the other spirits do.

All my complaints up there are pretty minor though, the show itself manages to be really entertaining and it's a fun sort of family super hero show. The heroes are great, the villains are great, the settings are perfectly suited to the action scenes, and the rainbow sparkles are pretty. Overall I think it was really well done and I hope there's actually a 2nd season, since it's Netflix.

The CG cat has no butthole.... >_>

So...in as far as dramas go this was a pretty silly one, especially with all the CG and the talking CG spoonworm. It was a little difficult to fully immerse in the drama with all that goofiness. But in the end they pulled it off well enough and it was fun to watch the story unfold, even if the end doesn't go quite how most dramas go. They did a pretty good job confusing the heck out of me initially with the storyline, so about halfway through I had a lot of anxiety around WTF was actually going on. They wrapped it up nicely enough though, so I suppose that means it was a successful plot device.

I would have liked to see some more funny scenes with the old visage of Miss Fairy, like it would have been hilarious to see what others saw during kiss scenes. At the very least, it would have been funny to hear the students or lab partners gossiping about how they saw the Professor kiss a grandma. The tiger role was really well cast, even without the CG effects that actress totally looked like she could be a tiger. Her red curly hair was SO CUTE. The other actors all did fairly well too, though some parts (like the secret camera boy) were really hyped up toward the start and then basically went nowhere relevant in the end.

Overall, it's a decent watch when you want something mostly light and fun....there are a few dark storyline spots, but definitely the show keeps with its overarching light comedy theme. I wouldn't rewatch it though, it's sort of a one-and-done story.

Unironically every KDrama cliché ever

IDK dude...like my expectations were not super high because it's really not my favorite genre, sad romances are sort of meh. That being said, it was a decent watch. The actors were all cute and there were lots of fun cute moments, you could tell they put their souls into it. But how much really can you do with a trite script. I mean...they even did the whole "met when we were children" fated thing. Like...go online and Google "KDrama cliches" every one on the list will be in this show.

So ok, there was nothing original or particularly interesting, but the actor chemistry was good and it was still decent enough to spend a few hours on once you're through your list of dramas you really want to see. I've read all the reviews here...I was super shocked to find so many 10 star reviews. I'd like to find those people and point them in the direction of dramas worthy of a 10-star XD

Decent entertainment that requires little mental engagement

This show was pretty cute. The sophisticated business woman with an embarrassing side-hobby plot was light and fun. The comedy was good for a few laughs and the romance was pretty steamy...like top-10 level steamy. Most of the plot devices are banal and contrived, but this show wasn't trying to be super deep or impactful, it was trying to deliver solid reliable entertainment and it did that really well. The lead actress is super cute with her covert fangirl hobby, which is entertaining to watch.

Since this is primarily a romance, it makes sense to me that the best scenes were the romantic ones. There's the kiss photo shoot in an alley that you'll find in many top-10 Kdrama kisses lists...but that one wasn't my favorite. The hidden gem romance scene is one where he's in her shamefully fangirled-out house and she's got him blindfolded so her secret isn't discovered and they do the typical imagination scenario where she fantasizes about what happens next but then comes back to her senses and things play out differently in reality. But dang are those imagination fantasy daydreams hot in this drama!

There are a few deeper points in the story, mostly dealing with side characters. I especially liked the way they dealt with the old photographer who was afraid to show the world he was gay. I also liked the deeper plotline with the main male character's origin story.

Basically, there is nothing wrong with this show at all, it's super fun and easy to watch. It's not epic. It's not deep. But it delivers.

An actor who LOOKS like an android...playing an android...

Full disclosure: I can't actually tell if this drama was good or if I just like dramas about robots.

This show super enticed me and I watched it ravenously and was super sad when it ended. I love the theme of an android trying to be human and falling in love. It had plenty of action and plot twists, several redemption arcs, plenty of mystery, some decent comedy, and some romance. The lead actor did a really great job acting as an android...low key I think dude might actually BE an android. His sort of blankly childlike accepting smiles as he's being dragged around the human world were perfect for his portrayal of a robot. His did a really good job keeping his reactions and expressions superficially amiable without adding all the angst and inner though most adult humans carry around. He looked genuinely confused and delighted by the human world and I 100% believed him as a robot.

I actually WANT to give this 10 stars cause it was so much fun to watch...but in all honesty the plot was a little predictable and several of the supporting cast were eye-rollingly banal. There were some notable exceptions that made the drama really stand out in my mind and helped elevate the show, Kim Won Hae was really great in this drama as the female lead's father (but let's be honest is that weird looking old dude every NOT great in any drama he's ever been in?). Overall, if I'm fair and pit it against other dramas I've rated as 10s, this one is super good but probably not epic...so I give it an 8.

The ending was emotional and well conceived, though again it was a little predictably "everything works out in the end and the dead people come back to life", typical of Kdramas. Basically, this is similar to that movie with the android boy, A.I. Artificial Intelligence and just about every other android based movie/show/book...robot wants to be a real boy Pinocchio trope. I didn't hate it, I'd probably watch it again even, but it wasn't any sort of new take on the already well represented theme.

Don't Believe The Bad Reviews

Like others have mentioned, I'm not sure why the rating on this show is so bad (relative to Kdramas where everything is a 6 is it's bad or a 10 if it's good). This story was actually really well done and engaging. The plot twists are well conceived and there's a whole lot to unpack every single episode. The lead actors do really well and are well paired with a lot of chemistry. The interactions between the female lead and each of the male's personalities are sufficiently varied so that you, as the viewer, end up relating to each personality as individual people...which is likely the intention of the writers.

I think, from what I've read, many people didn't like the ending. I can understand that, because it was difficult for me to accept as well. But I thought the plot got to that eventuality in a very thoughtful and smart way and it made sense and fit well with the story progression. The ending does happen really really quickly so you aren't given a ton of time to adjust and you don't spend a lot of time post-ending getting comfortable with the outcome. Maybe if they'd ended things a little sooner or had a little more afterward it would have been easier for some people to swallow.

The antagonist in this show was really well done. I didn't suspect him initially as an antagonist at all, mostly because it wasn't apparent yet that there even WAS anything to suspect him of. I didn't like him at all, however, from the first time I saw him. I WANTED him to be a bad guy because I hated the way he interacted with the female lead. I FELT like he was a bad guy before it even became apparent that he might be bad. The actor did a really really good job with this role through all its variations.

The plot itself has so many interesting arcs and really takes you through so many different settings and events without losing a drop of cohesion. It's varied in its events to the point where I had to go back and look at each episode's synopsis to make sure I wasn't confusing multiple dramas as the same, but somehow they all fit together. There's SO MUCH that goes on in this drama that it's pretty amazing they managed to fit the whole thing into 20 episodes.

Relatable but not inspiring

I should start this by saying...I really liked this drama. The story is average, the acting is average, everything is super average. But that's also kind of what this show is about. The male and female lead both were very relatable to me on a personal level, so I enjoyed watching them interact and develop a story together. There was nothing groundbreaking, awe inspiring, or super memorable, but it was a very solid drama that I 100% do not regret watching.

The awkward interactions between the two leads were cute and interesting and I never felt like they weren't giving enough of themselves to the story. The only annoyance I had with this show was the pretty modern-typical "girl is suddenly independent and F's off to do her own thing for awhile but comes back to the dude eventually" thing. In a lot of dramas that do that I feel very WTF THIS MAKES NO SENSE about it, but in this drama they pulled it off in a way that made complete sense and so while I didn't like it, I also understood why it happened.

The best, absolutely best, part of this drama is at the end when the girl comes back after "finding herself". The male lead delivers a really great performance when she returns and I found myself 100% on board with his reactions and their reconciliation efforts. I was really really moved right along with the female lead by his emotional response after he'd held himself coldly together for so long. It seemed right to me that his emotional behavior was unsophisticated and child-like. I would have been very disappointed if he'd had a mature response since the premise of his character was emotionally stunted and emotionally immature.
