No spoilers here, so I can't actually say what's happening, but the writers (and actors obviously) did a great job taking several cliches, and then making them fun to watch. The main reason might be that these are not teenagers (or looking like teenagers). The main characters are complete adult women, but, as any adult knows, adults are often just old kids. And so they do the same stupid things kids do. It's hilarious to see how two of the FL solve having too much to drink. There are three main FLs. One is basically fun to watch. One goes back and forth, and the third leads a rather tragic life. It makes for great viewing. This series is so recommended (even though it's actually a chick-flick)!
This episode had a bit of everything: Romance, despite difficult circumstances. I loved how they showed how the FL and her boyfriend grew closer. Innocent, yet very real. And it had a chase scene! Not a Hollywood chase scene, where cars at insane speeds zig-zag in between traffic, without magically killing anybody, no a *real* chase, with real people, just like how I image regular adults would do it: hilariously bad, without (at all), trying to look funny. And the fighting, if you can even call it that, Lee Da Hee is just fantastic. So far this is a great series!
So far this is a really great series. The actors are believable, and fit their roles. The story progresses naturally and logically. Technically all is well. But story-wise, dark clouds are gathering. From the previous episode, and even more in this one, calamity is coming. It is so obvious, so clear. But our heroes just don't seem to notice. Out of shear nerves I decided to write this mini review of this episode. This episode shows clearly how characters develop, the weak show weakness. The bad slowly turn evil. The enemies gather. Great writing!
Extremely well made production, everything is grand. So far the story works well. The only complaint I have is the FL, who is supposed to be 15 years old, looks to be in her mid thirties. It's not a big problem, as the story progresses I suppose she will start to look her story age, but it was bit annoying.
Being neither female, nor Chinese, nor Asian for that matter, I'm really not up to speed was is considered historically accurate. But I don't care. The first episode was fun. The music was great, and the cinematography colorful and a feast for the eyes. The main actress is not the most beautiful woman on the planet but she fit her role perfectly. The guy is too good looking to be real, but then, I don't really care what dudes look like anyway. All in all, this seems to be a fun, colorful, an totally historically inaccurate series. Just what we need in these dark days (winter here).
