the sweetest first love
This is quite possibly the sweetest, most healing show I've ever seen. I've been rewatching the episodes repeatedly, when normally i just burn through to the next thing. The story and character development and acting and cinematography are all super high quality. I LOVE the OST and how integral it is to the narrative. It's so heartwarming to watch these kind thoughtful boys taking care of each other and being so smiley and happy together as their relationship slowly develops. These fantastic young actors bring a combination of innocence and realness to these characters that I've rarely seen in queer dramas.
The pacing and character/plot development is so well done and consistent all the way through episode 7, but unfortunately the resolution in the final episode feels rushed and full of holes. There are a lot of sudden developments that would have benefitted from more backstory. There are also scenes and dialogue in the trailers that never show up in the show, so it really feels like the series was originally meant to be at least 2 episodes longer and had to be edited down. It's SUCH a superb show on all levels otherwise that it's really a shame if so. I'm still satisfied with the resolution i just feel like we as viewers and the entire crew deserved a more complete experience. Maybe we can get a director's cut if it earns the popularity it deserves? I'll definitely be looking for more / new work from this writer and director, as well as the cast.
