I thought the boy was going to be cold and standoffish like most dramas, but once again I was surprised to find that wasn’t the case this time. He’s quiet but warm and is nice to the female lead. He is a precious science nerd and I love him with all my heart.
This is a scene to summarize their relationship:
They go grocery shopping together and Si Tu Mo has to rein him in on his expensive spending on machines
- Sale lady: “this robot can talk to you!”
- Gu Wei Yi: oooooh
- Si Tu Mo: “I can also talk to you, let’s go” XD
#married
But also Gu Wei Yi would do literally anything for her. You have to see how much time and effort he puts into things for Si Tu Mo. Even if he ain't good at something, he will take the time to do private lessons in order to woo her. We stan
On the whole, this show was just so simple and peaceful.
And my favourite scene of all time was their first kiss. It was so MAGICAL, I got goosebumps
I’m soooooooo glad I watched it, a 9 from me.

Though I'll tell you one annoying thing this show does is how every ‘cliffhanger’ Never. Does. Anything!
The episode gets to a critical moment, then boom, freeze, end of episode. And then in the next episode, the exciting 'thing' never happens!! I made up a fun game before I started a following episode, called ‘Guess What Interruption Or Random Thing Can Stop This Plot Point From Happening’. Ugh the writers are such trolls
But most of all, I never want to hear the words 나때문에 (nattaemun-e) “because of me” / “it’s all my fault” EVER again. Trust me, if you watch it too - you won't either.
I mean the show’s cute and all but so many things would be cleared up so much faster if they just COMMUNICATED! The amount of time it took for things to get revealed was ridiculous. For e.g. you have no idea how long it took just for people to find out that she was in a COMA. Our female lead is returning home after 13 years all dazed and confused with the mentality of a 17 year old, and nobody asked? Ever? And she never brought it up?!
When it got 'revealed', I was like "I can't believe it took this long to reveal this basic fact, they LIVE TOGETHER"
Also the sheer amount of 'coincidences' was a bit unrealistic, even for kdrama standards.
And don't even get me started on all the repeated storylines
Despite all this though, I shouldn't undermine the enjoyment I got from watching it. One thing I wasn't expecting to get out of this drama, this feeling of gratefulness? To see someone who had 13 years of her life taken away from her, all that time she lost.......kudos to her for being happy a lot of the time after losing all those precious years, damn. I don't know about other viewers, but that's the main thing I took from it: to be thankful that we are living and that we do have time ahead of us.
Other things that were refreshing:
- no villain wrecking havoc
- the male lead’s best friend was a woman who WASN'T presented as a romantic second lead
- no lead chases the other first, they fall in love slowly at the same time as they heal each other's trauma
- Jennifer's character. enough said
The show also has a lovely finale to remind you why you enjoyed the show in the first place. Because my fave part was whenever everybody got together in the house like one big happy family <3
In short: this drama is nothing spectacular, but it's nice :)

I like that the male lead already knows he likes her early on in the show, since many other dramas make it take forever for any real progress. And she subconsciously has feelings for him too. And one thing I like about the ML's character is instead of him being a cold prick (like many other dramas) he is just narcissistic and arrogant lol. And he has a nice side to him too.
But man I ship the couple so much
- so fluffy!!!!!
- several kiss scenes!!! all amazing
- happy ending!!! (and Lee Young Joon's line when talking about where they will travel to “who cares where we go, we’ll never leave our room anyway” omgggggg)
- Lee Yeong-jun’s several cute jealous scenes (and she gets jealous too aww)
- They never suffer through any unnecessary angst!!! Cuteness throughout the majority of the show??
- Yeah, just the fact that they are the focus of the show, like that is the story - their relationship
- The parents approve of her well before they even start dating (even hinting to her to get together!!) aka. the mum of the rich CEO approves of his girlfriend?? Unheard of in the land of kdramas
- He was in love with her ever since he saw her again?? Secretly loved her for 9 years of being her boss, and never let any of his ‘girlfriends’ touch him, ever. Only her
- I just, they treat each other so well??? They are goals in every way
I just loved the overall style of the show. The cute little background noises, the colours, the fashion, and the laid-backness of it all. And all the side ships are so cute too!! I love Lee Yeong-jun’s friend President Park, aka his relationship counsellor lmao. He had some great lines
Overall, the characters were so enjoyable and although they were predictable, they were still funny and likeable.
All in all, for a cute rom com, this show wins all the awards

Who knew a robot could have better character development than most kdrama male leads?
Honestly I think this show is amazing in the message it sends. A robot has no greed or thirst for money/power. It’s humans which are the terrible ones. (now to clarify, the show isn't trying to send the message robots are better than humans, its message is for humans to be the best version of themselves)
For e.g. human Nam Shin, he’s all ‘how dare you say a robot is bEttER tHaN Me!!1!!1!!!’ when literally all you have to do is not be an asshole.
Anyway, I can safely say this was a drama I thoroughly enjoyed. The story is so good (ignoring the plot holes), has great acting (someone give Seo Kang Joon an oscar) and a good soundtrack.
Going into it I wasn't sure how I felt about a human x robot relationship but after watching it - I stan. Not saying I'm ready for human-like robots to be put into production to the world, but it's Seo Kang Joon's portrayal of this robot in particular that made me catch feelings. Like he is just so charming, honest, caring and it's his smile - his pure happy smile
(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
The only reason it isn't a 10 is because the plot towards the end was just getting so insufferable. Why is an intelligent robot making such dumb decisions and behaving so naive?? Or our protagonists just leave mega important things lying around. It's bizarre, the villains are stupid but luckily for them - the heroes are even stupider.
But complaints aside, I would definitely recommend this drama.

But man. Oh. My. God. I get it now. I understand all the high ratings. I understand the love for this drama. I understand it all.
This drama was just too high quality for me. It is a masterpiece, through and through. Everything about it. A few points:
- Stunning scenery & cinematography
- Gorgeous soundtrack, beautiful (just put on Winter is Coming.mp3 or And I'm Here.mp3 and I’ll be a wreck)
- Quality storyline
- Slow and steady pacing
- Great acting
- Superb chemistry for our main 2 romantic couples (and bromance couple)
I took my time watching this show in order to savour its beauty. This show was such a rollercoaster. Since there is a lot of angst, when our characters smile, it is like seeing the sun come out after years of rain. You’ll have the fluffiest scenes of all time that you are unprepared for and then more angst comes and smacks you in the face. But god I loved it all - it made me feel SO many things. I had never seen two characters that encapsulated the word ‘soulmates’ like Kim Shin and Ji Eun Tak. Those lovers deserve the world and more.
My final thoughts are the immense satisfaction and gratification for allowing myself to watch this paragon of a drama.
