Great ML, Not a fan of FL, Plot started off strong, very weak in the middle, ended decently
I watched this drama because of all of the hyped that surrounded it among C-drama watchers- especially those who were fans of wuxia/xianxia like myself. The show fell short for me and I thought it was overhyped. I will highlight my opinions on negative aspects.I did not like the FL's (Crystal Yuan) acting. Early on she acted too much like a child (though people tried to defend this as child-like naivety) but it persisted for way longer than necessary. She wasn't very good at portraying emotion like her counter ML (tears, heartfelt moments). It seemed so fake and was very noticeable to me. People are raving that she's a powerful strong FL which is true but they could've written it better. She's the God of War but she's more powerful than any other deity in heaven? When she barely just discovered her powers? And her body is still mortal?
The sister, Linglong, also was not the best actor. She acted like an annoying child almost the entire show. People say she experienced trauma but it wasn't her that did it, it was the flower demon. I don't understand why she felt so hurt when it wasn't even her.
The ML, Cheng Yi, did an amazing job. His acting was really good. He was able to portray emotions very well. He seemed overpowered though, for being a demon and being stronger than some of the gods and being able to do things that seem like it was out of his scope when he couldn't do other stuff.
Liu Xue Yi also did a very good job with his character.
Props to the team for the BL between Tengshe and Qinglong and Bai Lin and LuoHuo Jidu.
The music was pretty good.
For me, pretty much episodes 15-50, were really really bad. I skipped a lot and was bored most of the time. It finally picked up again at the end. The ending also wasn't the best imo. People are happy that it was a happy ending. I was wondering tho like why did Luohuo Jidu also disappear when Bai Lin drank the wine? Overall it was ok. I would not rewatch but will now keep an eye on some of the male actors that I liked in this show.

Good show, ending could've been a bit better
Good show. The actors did a good job portraying their characters. It had serious moments but also had a lot of enjoyable comedic breaks. Some of the editing/scenes were weird. The scene would be in the village but then they would cut to the palace for a short scene and then cut back to the village but it seemed out of places and unnecessary. That happened a couple of times. Some nice twists. The ending could've been better for me. It felt like a rushed ending. The antagonist was taken care of too fast. It was a good basic kdrama. Was this review helpful to you?

Short, strange, interesting, but left a lot of questions
I just want to start off. Acting by the ML and FL were great! Always a fan of ML. It was a nice interesting short series. Because of how short it was, I felt it left a lot of details and questions unanswered. I am still 100% confused by the ending and have no idea what happened. Some questions I had:
Why did the mark appear? Why did it go away? What're the two groups?? How are there other people that can see jellies? Why can Mckenzie manipulate it and she didn't even try? Why did in Pyo automatically bond with her and followed along with her plans so fast? And the kids too? And what's the meaning on the ducks?? I understand that it's a short series and they can't be too detailed but it did feel too rushed on some of those details. There needs to be more episodes. Also why did they focus so much on an ex who died and came back just to die again?? Someone else reminded me of this but there are doctors capable of doing surgery on magical mite eating beings???? But then what was the role of the old fishmonger lady???? I do appreciate the lesbian couple and how ML defeded homosexuality.

I never read the comic so I came in fresh. The acting I thought was really good. The actors portrayed their emotions very well. There were certain points where the characters weren't speaking but all of the emotions were expressed through their eyes and face. It can get super intense at times and it's great. Nam Joo Hyuk did a great job expressing his emotions. Super hot and adorable at the same time. Shin Se Kyung also did a wonderful job. The chemistry between the two could've been stronger but still good. Im Joo Hwan did a great job. Something I wish the show would've done was to make the relationship between Shin Hoo Ye and Yun So Ah stronger for more tension.
Plot- Wasn't the best plot. People mention that they didn't really give you a full backstory but fed bits and pieces here and there and I thought that was what made it fun to watch. You learn new information as you progress through the show. Sure, I could def use more background on Shin Hoo Ye and why the gods hate him or why he used to be the God of fire. But the best thing was it didn't really drag out a lot. Some dramas tend to have long periods where a lot of episodes were boring and I didn't think this had it.
Music- The OST Glass bridge is BEAUTIFUL. Amazing song and fits sooo well.
It's a great show, great drama, I love fantasy, magic, and rom com so this was perfect for me. Super intense emotional moments. Super cute adorable moments. Could've used more magic. But wouldn't rewatch it.

Had to drop it
The story was ok. The storyline had potential but the way it was written and flowed just didn't cut it for me. The special effects weren't good. A little bit more magic/fighting would've been nice. Or delved more into the college student life. I didn't like the FL and can't stand her or her acting. I tried to force myself to finish but ended up just dropping it because it was getting boring. I do like the ML a lot but I couldn't make myself watch any more of this. I'm honestly surprised about how much people liked it. I hope the ML gets better roles in better dramas in the future. Was this review helpful to you?
