Started good, then it just went down the wrong path.
This review is a bit of a rant. Some spoilers, so if you don't want that, don't read it. Also, I'm writing this from episode 28, and will finish the series before posting this review.
The show started good, and did many things really well, but all those things get overshadowed by the end story, and things that just didn't make sense.
Character Lu Si Cheng is my main problem. He did so many things at the end half of the series that just made no sense to me, and the way he treated Tong Yao by making her feel like she did something wrong just really ticked me off.
Also, how the storyline was blaming Tong Yao for what happened, instead of the girl that did it. How they made the internet seem to be calling to punish Tong Yao when she never said anything, or did anything wrong, just made no sense. I don't know why Tong Yao was still on the team, she was suppose to have to sit it out, and make a public apology, for something that was done against her, and she was going to be punished for it, yet, she was still on the team, with no explanation why, and none of the other members of the team found it odd. smh.
Then blaming Tong Yao for how others react to her, while she did nothing wrong, but defend herself, her team, and play professionally.
They were doing Esports really well in this series, then they had to throw in all this drama, and based it on things that just didn't hold water to me. So of the matches at the end were sort of pointless. Because of sudden lack of communication in strategy. This doesn't make any sense at all. They are suppose to be a professional team. Strategy is something that should have been drummed into them for each coming match. It was just frustrating to watch.
The animated fights were cool and all, but the fact that they didn't really bother telling you, who was who, it made is just about impossible to follow who was winning. You didn't know till after the fight was over. Hard to cheer on a character when you don't know which one is winning or losing. Jeez.
Ep. 28 is just full of bs drama. Lu Si Cheng character becomes really unlikeable to me. Tong Yao treats him like this big deal, but he so doesn't feel like he earned that. The whole episode they are trying to get your to feel for the characters, and it just feels to unearned, the whole thing falls flat.
I'm sure there will be a magically turn of events that will make everything right again in the next episode, but for me, the damage is done, and anything after this will feel unearned. I don't see myself watching this series again. What a waste of what was such a good show, all for needless drama sake. smh
Lu Si Cheng is suppose to be such a strong character, that can take anything, and then he crumbles over nothing. They made a mountain out of nothing. It's just so Irritating. The breakdown of his character makes no sense. He doesn't earn it at all. The drama was so badly done, it damage the whole series. smh
Jeez, the girl says she didn't mean it, of course she meant it, that's why she did it. To excuse her actions without her being seriously punished for it is just wrong, and the fact that her parents are trying to act like it was just a game, and not a serious issue tells you all you need to know, and why this girl thought she could do what she did. The girl didn't even try to give a heart felt apology. Wow, the Judgment for the crime is so weak. That's like a slap on the wrist. That's not going to discourage anyone from doing that in the future. smh.
Yup, Ep 29, everything is back to normal, and the team is working as a well oiled machine again. smh Of course I wouldn't want it any other way.
It ends well.
You probably could just skip episode 27, and on episode 28, jump till you see the police station. That would pretty much remove most of the problems.
