when reel felt more real

this is where cxz started falling for lmt. show cleverly showed a very tired cxz who unexpectedly found comfort only in his "toy". slowly, he is finding more happiness in his fake life more than his real one

hilarious

what if the history of your country is just a by-product of a lord's unrelenting pursuit of an unrequited love?

brilliant cutting and editing of scenes

another very good episode. this episode is not linear and it served a very good purpose of balancing the emotions and information. we get separate beautiful emotional scenes with lmt and cxz each.withholding of information in this ep is also making me clutch my fist in anticipation.

go is a game on heaven and earth

another heart to heart episode. even with limited information, lmt understands cxz's heart. the last go piece that was once a plaything, meant to be discarded, has become cxz's most treasured possession

This is where I started liking the male lead

The drama has been selling the male lead as someone who excels in his career. But this is the first time we see his kindness. He follows the female lead he barely knew in fear of her safety and eventually saves her. The best part is he does his best to comfort her in a non-intrusive way: he waits for the sunrise with her.*I love the cars in this episode. From the chase, to the insult for the slow muddied car, to wanting a fast car. (Did he want a fast car because he wants to be able to save people fast enough, or he just wants to exclusively catch up to her? Another puzzle that is left for the audience).

This is how you introduce characters

A masterclass in showing not telling. The sequence of the leads meeting for the first time gets your mind reeling right away. It gets you trying to understand these characters. What are they doing, what is she doing there, what is he doing there? Why is she buying that, why is she leaving that? It immediately piques your interest and makes you want to get to know them more. You know these are not your stereotypical leads, and you are excited to find out what unconventional thing they'll be doing next.

Start of the main arc: reviving Teng Yue

We are starting to see layers of the charactersIsn't the male lead every mom's dream son? Not at all. Male arc for quest for acknowledgement starts here. Nope, this is not a melodramatic family tragedy where you have a mistreated son. This is a generational conflict. Older generation being wary of the ways of the younger ones. Male lead wants his mom to understand he is not "evil", he just has a different way from her, but their end goals are the same.Female lead is still stubborn and prideful, but we are seeing her shed some of her selfishness. It is a good choice that the first Teng Yue problems the drama makes her tackle are relationship based: to employees and creditors. We start to see that she actually adheres to certain ideals, though it looks like she does so in a theoretical manner at this point.Fave couple part: the car/taxi ride. Again, the drama delivers in showing us the female lead's personality while adding to the ambiguity of the male lead's intentions/feelings.

Drama does not waste any time

Right after the successful character introductions, we immediately move on to the start of the actual plotThe little time used for the interactions of the leads is well spent.Their very short restaurant meeting provides enough motivation for the male lead keeping an eye for the female lead, but there is no certainty here. I love that things are kept vague. Is it pity, is it guilt, is it attraction? Are the meetings real or are they symbolic? Does it matter? As long as the shots are pretty, I enjoy them.
